Too many people freak me out.
This is a problem, as I want to start being social again. Got any tips other than forced desensitization?
It has gotten bad off and on throughout my life, and that's the only way I have found to deal with it-push myself to get around people until I get desensitized to it again.
Not pleasant, especially now that my dissociation has flipped off and the hyperalert panic state predominates my reactions to overwhelming stimuli.
It was easier to mentally check out all the time.
Now the world has lots of sharp, hard, pointy edges.

When I isolate to the full extent, I wander among strangers. Parks, shopping centers, etc., with the goal of spreading as many smiles as I can. Yeah, I am still isolating emotionally, but it is a step. Progress, not perfection.
