I have had two close brushes with death in the past couple years, both fairly sudden, unexpected, shocking, and traumatic. I know life can be wonderful. But I am literally afraid to get out of bed and try again. It feels easier to kill myself, since death seems so likely for me anyway. It feels overwhelmingly scary to try to build up a life, when it is so fragile. I don't know if I can face the terror. I'm very frustrated, because of course that doesn't make too much sense. Hypothetically, of course I should do all I can to try. And there is a chance (not great for me unfortunately) that I may make it. But the panic attacks I can't exactly stop. But I am, of course, traumatized.

Part of the curse of ptsd is that it keeps your mind stuck in the yuck of the past, the stress of the present and the worry about the future. I try to reframe it to the things learned from the past, the options I have in my present, and the gift of the future.
