A year of healing... but scared

Preciousbabygirl
I saw a movie when I was 8 and haven't seen it since. It has been decided that it's time to watch it and try to defuse that trigger. People wear the shirt associated with the movie and it causes panic attacks when I see it. We're hoping that by addressing the triggers at the source we'll have better luck making peace with the past. Everyone says this will be good but the process is scaring me!

I was hit with some sort of flu (tested negative twice) and was knocked out in bed for four days. I had a decent week afterwards, but then I came down with a cold the following week, which put me in bed for two days. I'm mostly recovered, except I still have some remnants of congestion. However, I have been feeling depressed for the past few days. I've been going to sleep at 9, which is early for...

I know my mommy is no longer suffering in this life. But sometimes I feel like i killed her. The doctors explained how her organs had shut down and once the life support was removed the body would completely stop functioning. I couldn't imagine a world where my mom would be a breathing vegetable for years in a nursing facility. Watching my mom's body labor over half a day to transition will...

the zanti misfits entered my dreams again after 2012 when my hubby started beekeeping. those suckers did look allot like bees. it was a much friendlier dream this time.

@ arfie - I would have nightmares to after seeing those misfit creatures. Yikes!
@ Arfie, I have never seen that....
an irony i find in cinematic triggers is how similar both the personal and generalized triggers are. one person's nightmare is another person's cheezy joke. my sons laughed mercilessly at my zantis while i laughed at their chucky. i suspect they are among those chucky shirt wearers as a part of their own exposure therapy. whatever it takes to take back your power. hope healing happens here.
the damaging part is not the trigger but the events surrounding the birth of the trigger. i was living in a domestic war zone when i watched the zantis. ditto for my sons when they watched chucky.
side note
unless you are a vintage sci-fi fan, i don't recommend "the misfits" episode or even "the outer limits." the special effects of that era were pathetic.
