Well, i don't know if this would be a reason to add to my PTSD but it surely did traumatize me.
Back in September of last year, I went to get some antidepressants from a doctor, not a psychiatrist. I took the meds, once. and i ended up in the emergency room, because i had really bad anxiety to the point where i couldn't decide on if i wanted to stand up or sit down it was horrible. I had postpartum depression at the time. And i told the doctor in the ER that i was AFRAID of hurting my son. They took it the wrong way and thought i was actually going to do it. So they sent me off to the centers (a psychiatric place where i live).
I was baker acted, so i had to stay in the place until the pdoc let me go.
When i got into the psych ward, they weren't very helpful with me, the nurse never showed me my room, and i never got the counseling the doctor in the ER told me i was going to receive, all they did was put me on meds that i ended up not taking when i got back home.
The reasons why i say that i think is part of my PTSD now is:
1.)I was away from my 8 month old for 3 days, which killed me inside.
2.)I was around people with actual mental illness, and i started to feel crazy while being there and i still do feel crazy.
3.)When i was trying to go to sleep one night, this one lady came into my room and i got up to go get the nurses and she tried to hold me in the room, and said they wouldnt listen to me, she tried to steal my sweater, and the nurses had to give her an injection. It scared the crap out of me...
4.)In my mind i feel like i am there, i can hear the people in my mind talking....
5.)I developed this fear of being Schizophrenic, which i still have 6 months later.
6.)Sense i have been out of that place, i havent been the same person.
Could this have added to my PTSD, or am i just overreacting.... It truely did scare the crap out of me, and i feel like a completely different person from being in there....

I had PTSD before i even went into the Psych ward from being abused by my sons father, so being in the psych ward i honestly think made the PSTD worse and the memories of being abused came out more. And the fact that the people in there were nuts....made me feel even worse...i have flashbacks of that place... and its horrible.
Journaling like you have here is a huge step forward as it releases the words of what happened to where you are able to read them and remember more details and then you can find acceptance that you did in fact handle the situation the best way you know how.
You can change how you feel about the situation, and that will help your reaction in the future to this type of situation.
Medicine taken under duress can create the exact situation the medicine is prescribed for to prevent. It is very important to understand that how you take the medicine, when, where, and what you are taking the medicine with can benefit your treatment.
Hope this helps.
It sounds like this experiece really did contribute to your condition. I am so sorry. Keep posting!
