There is a literal fog over the Brazos River Valley this morning. Not a seriously heavy one. I can still see the shadows of cars as they drive the road in front of my father-in-law's investment property. The bees are not real active, but they are venturing beyond the hard wire mesh I placed over their hive entrances to help their defense against the ??? Investigation is still underway to the mysterious action I have been watching for the past week. I am tempted to call the bee lab in nearby Texas A & M, but... Riling my hive of cultured rednecks seems too risky. Yaddah to the blah and blah to the yaddah...
I love meditating in a literal fog. The sight limitations and breathing nearly tangible air invites the settling of fragments within my spiritual fog. Wandering among the burst of natural activity gently humbles me to consider a world outside than human concerns.
Update:
1) My sister is out of the hospital and has moved in with the sister who brought her granddaughters down here to create Grandfest with me. The alcoholic sister has regained enough of her health to regain her habitual meanness.
2) My mother's two youngest sisters are going to be visiting the family for the first time since my father sexually traumatized them when they were little. 1950s? These Aunts are closer to my age than my mother's age. I am wondering if this qualifies as a miracle... It greatly tempts me to leave my corporate rednecks to their cultured divisions and...

Good memory. Thanks for bringing it back for me.
I remember days like that. Weeding a garden, moving the fence so the chickens had a new place to peck and eat, watching the flow and ebb of bud to bloom to crop to harvest to th stillness of the vast white winters. I am nostalgic for that. I understand it in your husband. My mom's family for me was refuge and connection, against all the toxic.
Musing along in my own way....
Thanks for th egood fog memory:-)
In this particular instance it is lavender. I broke ground for a bed way back in June when I knew it was way too hot to plant. I covered the bed with mulch and placed 3 potted lavenders within the mulch and just let them be. With regular watering, of course. Over the piddling of the last few days I have been pulling back the mulch and working the bed. The potted lavenders were so happy there that they sent roots out of the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot and were firmly fixed.
Still working the bed, but methinks those lavenders WANT to be in that bed.
Yup, Leo. Different climate, but same effect. Waterways and fog go together like bees and honey. A fog sure is conducive to nostalgia... And working the garden... Unwanted plants come out with the greatest of ease on days like this. The soil practically turns itself.
and when it was time to plant or not-plant, as the case may be, after a heavy fog morning was the best.... dirt like butter.
Go, lavender!
Given good roots, even the tiniest thing can grow strong.
