I've decided tonight that I'm walking away from my original family. It saddens me deeply and I wish I could accept them for who they are and how they treat me. I don't know how to accept a selfish person who lacks the ability to see outside themself. This all too familiar place of trying to find excuses for inconsiderate behaviours towards me is pointless. The blinders have to come off. It's hard to seek comfort and kindness with all this baggage.
I texted back to them that I'm focusing on myself for a while, keeping it about me so there won't be any backlash or hurt feelings. My goal isn't to hurt anyone, it's to find the peace and calmness I deserve without judgement. I know a new grieving starts now and it' going to suck. Forgiveness has to start too.

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. Different...

I felt guilt for years, but thens omething happened so awful that I realized my walking away from my dad's family was the healthiest move I could've possibly made. It was weird, b/c after eing raised from birth to think in terms of how vital the family was to my own existence.... I got to feel *free* of that. No idea if that makes snese, but .... Yeah. Maybe Al-Anon says it best with love from a safe distance. Or at least compassion.... I cannot bring myself to more with my dad's family.
