Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Support Group
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
I am thinking about stopping dialysis completely not getting a transplant but just stopping dialysis. Does anybody know what is involved in doing that? Do I tell the clinic and fill out paperwork? I haven't made a decision either way yet.

polykid....life is hard. I understand major depression because my daugher has it...she now has a great therapist and is starting a new medication. I know how hard it must be for you with this disease and suffering depression. But do not give up! First of all, the transplanted kidney will NOT become polycystic...that info was incorrect. Staying on dialysis is a personal decision but the alternative is death. LIfe is too precious and so are you. You have a purpose and once you get through all of the present, you will see a future that is all that you dreamed of. Please reconsider and discuss this all with your therapist. We all care. If your anti depressents arn't working there is another pill to increase its effectiveness. Ask your doctor. We all need help with all the crap we are going through. Ive been on dialysis since december and have had just about every thing happen. But it is getting better. I didnt think that it would but it is. You may want to look at switching centers too. Hang in there, you will be just fine.Good times are just around the corner.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
