Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Support Group
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Does anyone know anything about this? I've done some reading on it and it sounds preferable to going to a dialysis unit 3x per week. Here is one of the articles

When I told my previous nephrologist that I have panic attacks and that I live an hour away from any clinics he suggested this for me. He made it sound like a perfect solution (not that there's anything perfect about dialysis). He said if you want to go on holiday you tell, whoever, where you're going and there will be a machine and materials waiting for you when you get there. Sounds too good to be true to be honest, and who wants to travel when they're exhausted all the time. There are also fewer food restrictions because you do this 6 nights a week (overnight) so your kidneys are constantly being cleaned.
The machines are small... they would fit on a bedside table.
I'm still depressed because I feel like I have maybe 5 years to live if my GFR is 23. What am I supposed to do with 5 years? I don't have a lot of money cause my husband left me in debt and my main goal right now is to pay off his loan before I die.
Do any of you have cleaners that come in to help? I have a problem with not being able to do my own housework at my age but I just don't feel like doing it. I get too tired.

get as much information as you can, also look into peritoneal dialysis and figure what's best for you.
