Allopurinol

Hi all
Just wanted to get some info on Allopurinol.. I have PKD, my creatinine levels were at 1.6-1.8 for a while.. I started taking Allopurinol for high uric acid about six months ago and just got my blood results My creatinine levels jumped to 2.17.
Has anyone experience this while taking Allopurinol???
I see my nephrologist the end of the month.
I would appreciate any input

its difficult to treat gout in kidney patients with it.
Is the high uric acid levels from gout or renal failure? Can your diet be altered so you don't take in foods that create high uric acid levels? I am curious what your doctor says. Please keep us posted. Hope you get it resolved soon.

I saw my nephrologist a few days ago. He said stop the allopurinol and drink more water to flush out your kidneys and we will see. Its only the second time I saw this particular Dr since my other neph of 12 years retired, but he seems to NOT like throwing medication at you if diet can work.

i take allopurinol i have high uric acid levels as well my creatinine level has been around 1.21 - 1.25 i started taking it a few months back and i go to the dr in a month so ill see if mine have changed any i hope your levels return to normal now that your off of it

    Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax.     My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
