Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Well, the time for my stbx's flight to land came and went about 30 minutes ago. I am definitely on that roller coaster of emotion. The relief that he didn't call, the hurt that he didn't call.
I'm hanging in so far. I'm emotional and crying, but sticking to knowing it is the best and yearning for the day that it doesn't hurt this much.
I have a couple of friends texting or messaging to help support this night - his first back in the country.
Next step is to manage him getting his remaining things out of the old house, which I will avoid and see if my dad will supervise.
I am trying to figure out what to do about taxes. If you file married, but not separated more than half the year, you don't get the credit. If I try to work with him to do the taxes, I get the full credit. I can go ahead alone and say we were separated for 6 months, I could still get most of the credit, but he could use that against me. The fact is, I am a full time student and not even sure how I am going to pay for this new place on my own. So, I really need all the credit I can get!
I'm in a panic and half of me wants to give up and half of me wants to fight like hell to make it bigger and better...I just hope the right half wins this battle.

I was worried about taxes too. When it came down to it, my ex wanted to do what was best for HIM. That's what they always do. I suspect your ex will file married if it's in his best interest. I came to the point where I decided I would file separately just so I would have nothing to do with him and he had no leverage over me. He was playing games, knowing it wasn't in my interest to file separately. I felt such relief when I made the decision that filing separately was best for my mental health.
It will work out! Don't give up. One day at a time...
