Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
I would recommend seeing a doctor about your medication. Maybe you need a different or additional med. I'm not trying to push drugs on you...but sometimes it is very necessary to even us out during the really rough spots.
You really are going to fine. It's painful, terribly painful, but we are here for you. Hug that puppy of yours...s/he needs you!
A friend of mine committed suicide some years ago, and I witnessed the incredible damage that it did to her family. Maybe you think it wouldn't hurt your children that much, but trust me, it would.
I would urge you to find somebody, anybody, to talk to. You can try the National Suicide Prevention Line at 1-800-273-8255.
There are some more phone numbers here: http://suicidehotlines.com/
And of course we are here for you. You can talk to us.
Life is worth fighting for!
Even though it does not feel better at this moment....there are momments that can be better..... one minute at a time.
Sending hugs and support
Try to go one more week, one more day, even one more hour without doing anything you can't undo. You'll want to have tried your best, done everything else available to you, right? Be kind to yourself - chocolate always helps me.
We're here for you.
I have been where you are, I have walked in your shoes... I have a feeling many of us here have. I am not here to try to give you advice or to diminsh the pain that you feel. It is very real and can be all-consuming.
I can share my story, and hopefully it helps you see light at the end of the tunnel. When I ended things with him back in February, the break-up was really bad- the worst it had ever been. He called me names, demeaned my ethics and derided my character. I have always prided myself on being caring and compassionate, of doing the right thing even when it was hard. I am non-judgemental and highly ethical. The reason I am telling you this is because he took everything, EVERYTHING, I stand for and turned it on it's head. He did this because I allowed him to, because I got my sense of self and self-worth from him. When we ended things, I felt like I had nothing left, not even my character or the person I thought I was.
One day, I was out walking my dog, wading through the mud and leaves at a park near my house, when I realized I was planning to kill myself. I had somehow skipped over the questioning phase right into planning. It scared me! But as I sat there in the woods, all I could think of was, it has come to this, so this is how it is going to end... I couldn't believe my life was about to end when I had lived the entire thing trying to please others. My entire life had revolved around other people, and not one day, ONE DAY, had I lived just thinking of myself.
I based everything on what other people would think of me if I did or didn't do something. I tried to imagine what my life would be like if I had lived just doing what I really wanted to do, forget that, if I had just done what made me HAPPY. The thought felt so foreign, so wrong and different from my way of thinking, that it felt like it jusssttt might be right.
I decided then and there that I was going to live from myself, from the core of who I was inside, and I wasn't going to give a damn what anyone else thought. I had tried everyone else's wayy, and now it was time for me to try mine.
I made a deal with myself that I would give it my honest try. I was going to take care of me, and see what happened. That is when my healing took a revolutionary step forward. I was still in an incredible amount of pain, but I started to do what I wanted to do (I would underline this if I could), even if it was just one minute at a time... I am not going to lie... Some times it is one minute at a time, still, but I am alive. Every single time I see another glorious sunset, I am reminded that I would have never seen it if I had followed through my thoughts that day.
We live our entire lives for our abusers, isn't time we live for ourselves? What would yoy do if you could do anything in the world? If nothing held you back? What kind of life would you be living?
You don't want to die, you've reached out to is on here! What u want is support and you've got it and will continue to get it in bucket loads here!
My dad committed suicide when I was 16 and I can promise you that it had an absolute MASSIVE effect on me. I've still not really got over it and when I think about it I will always feel the impact that it had on my life. If you have children of your own I can promise you, doing that will effect them and they won't recover from it.
It's not the same as someone just passing away, it's COMPLETELY different. You feel all sorts of emotions, and this is what your family will also feel, believe me it's an impact that will effect all their lives greatly.
I also know the feeling of wanting to just give up myself. I thought about it lots of times. I thought about it a lot through the worse abuse he gave me, I was pregnant at the time with my daughter and my ex abused me overtly every single day, thought that entire pregnancy and I truly felt worthless and that I may as well just not be here. I convinced myself that if I died then the pain would stop. The only reason I didn't was because I had my daughter growing inside my belly and I rationalised "it's really selfish of me to take her life as well" so she pretty much saved my life.
Being where I am now, I'm not depressed, on edge, lonely, lost, anxious, suffering, in emotional pain, despair, beating myself up or sad, I am very peaceful and content. I am no longer these things because NC and time have been my medican and I've got over my emotional illness. And I can absolutely promise you that you can get over this too, in time and in NC.
I've had counselling and had it for over a year and had two different types at the same time! I no longer have any counselling at all. I was ready to move forward when I was ready and you'll be ready when you're ready, there's no set time limit.
Also I must add something. I have two friends who both took an over dose. Both nearly died but thankfully were found in time. One of which I saved. The one I saved had to be revived in hospital and said it was terrifying. The other friend told me all about her experience and she told me.."if you was ever going to commit suivide don't ever take an overdose, it was such a horrific experience, you don't just fall asleep and slip away, you hallucinate, it's like being stuck in a really bad nightmare, when it kicked in I was terrified and it's not a dignified or easy way to go!"
She was also glad as was my other friend that she was saved!
As much as u can only see that this is the answer I can assure you it's not, it's a bad decision and I do hope you trust us on here to ignore those thoughts that tempt you down that path, those thoughts are not the answer!
