Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Mine, as many of you could probably guess, is childbirth.
As to the one thing I would like to experience but never have? Inner peace.
By the way Freedom, I can relate to your answer. I am childless as well.
Question before I go to bed for the night...What or who inspires you?
The lovely men and women of this board. There is so much strength and so much adversity that has been overcome... Not to mention what a loving, caring, kimd, compassionate group of people!
My dog
The sunrise and sunsets.
Mountains and the ocean
Mandela
Martin Luther King
Beauty
A child's laugh
Random acts of kindness
A smile from a stranger
Genuine love
My best friend
My grandfather
My own heart- I am completely amazed at it's resilience, ability to love and find light in everyone. Truly befuddles the 'mind' rational part of me.
My son. He was born with HPE, which is a rare brain disease. The doctors kept telling me that he would die, through pregnancy, childbirth, his first night, his first week. Now he's 3 months old and still beating odds! He's a fighter and a mummy's boy. If he can do what he's done, I can do anything I put my mind to!
What is your favorite color and give an explanation as to why.
Jellyfi5s, I am so inspired when a child overcomes adversity and fights the odds. Wishing you and your baby continued strength, health and positive outcome.
To answer the question, I would say the calico colors in my cats coat and her pretty almost golden eyes..reason...because she has been such a lifesaver to me during my bouts with depression. Odd that I would rescue an anemic, pregnant cat that had to have emergency spay as the kittens had been dying inside and then she turns around and "saves " me.
Question..who is or was your favorite fur baby and why?
If you could do one thing today what would it be?
Freedom, I love your list of what inspires you...beautiful.
To answer your question, the one experience I would like to have but haven't yet is to be married. Crazy, right? I was adamant as a 20 something year old that I would never get hitched. Starting in my 30's it became a fanatical obsession. Since then have been engaged a couple of times but not to right guy. At 51, I would very much love to find the man that would make me his happy companion for the rest of our lives. If it doesn't happen, I will be ok though.
Favorite color - I have two. First is turquoise. No particularly reason it is just very pleasing to my eyes. In fact when I bought a Keurig for myself for Christmas I bought it in this color. My other is a glistening chestnut....and Joanie will appreciate and understand this...the color of my horse. She is not a dark or medium chestnut, but she actually glistens...hard to explain but beautiful.
Jelly, I am so happy for you and your son. I hope he continues to beat the odds. Sounds like he has one amazing mom!
And to my dear, dear friend Andrea, if I could do one thing today it would be to fly to your state and have a lovely five course meal with you.
I know I always pick weird questions for these things. Fool :(
Ok, my answer would be I want to write my own book. Sounds extremely daunting though. And I worry I wouldn't have enough to make it actually a book. Maybe a really long short-story. Ha!
I'm certainly not as well read as you Rockin. After law school, my pleasure reading went down the drain. I did, for the first time in a long time, finish a novel over Christmas. Someone, maybe Freedom, mentioned the book "Gone Girl" by Gillian someone. Fantastic read and mysteriously relatable to the lives led by us on this site. Highly recommend if you like drama/realistic novels.
Peace
I used to want to write, when I was younger and still somewhat believed in dreams of being a writer, poet, artist, or heck even a horse jockey before I got to tall and gained weight.
Ltwist..I do understand the color choice..I love chestnut horses and in my experience they have been the most solid mounts as well. I once had a chestnut (called sorrel where I am from) that I absolutely adored and he fell upon a t post and was fatally injured. He had to be put down and as the ground was to hard due to weather, I lay with his covered body on and off all night. Never got as attached to another.
Anyway...back to my question that I don't think was answered, favorite furbaby aka pet?
Joanie, I'm so sorry about your horse, that's terrible... But I think it's lovely that you lay with him at the end. Such a devoted owner.
To answer your furbaby question, I was never allowed a pet before. But when I was a kid there was such a cute little red King Charles Cavalier Spaniel down the street. They used to take it for walks on the field behind our house. I wanted him/her so badly :) So that's my furbaby of choice! xxx
My two favorite fur babies were my my horse Sammy, that I lost. You could lead him around by his mane he was that gentle. And Sassy, my Jack Russel terrier. She was my shadow and was with me for 10 years before she was hit by a car and killed. That was another all night deal..I was visiting my younger brother about 8 pm and let her out to potty. I didn't think about the road as she never got in it by herself but forgot his dog chased cars. We think that might be what happened, not sure as the driver went on. :( I literally slept in my truck with my passed on Sassy as I knew (I was staying at my dads and he was remarried) I could not bring her in my bed. What could I do? I had to grieve.
Geez. That's the hard thing about love..the Goodbye. Ok..Its your turn for a question Rocking. Hopefully you can turn this back into a lighthearted post..sorry for my story. Just happens my favorite furbabies are in Animal Heaven.
Mine, as I have harped on about several times already on here, is tea! Milk, no sugar. I don't know what I'd do if they stopped growing/producing it, LOL. xxx
My favorite drink non alcohol would probably be coffee.
With alcohol..Bud light..I am a beer girl. Only in the heat of summer though.
Question...What is something you really enjoy doing?
Beer is one of those drinks that looks really good in the glass or bottle to me, but I can't drink it :/ I have never really been able to 'drink' alcoholic things; I just sip them occasionally. Wine, etc. is wasted on me because I can't even finish a glass.
I love sparkling water, though. Juice too. Any will do, but if I could pick, it'd be apple and raspberry. It's really refreshing and has a nice tang :) xxx
