Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Just suggested to my H that we work on the way we communicate to each other ie, I don't withdraw and he doesn't get angry and accuse me.
So, he got angry and told me that I was the 'architect of his destruction'
He tells me that I need to help him heal from everything I have done to him and then he won't be angry and say mean things to me. Getting nowhere...

@possumlady - So sorry that you have one of THOSE H's. The "Architect of His Destruction"??? Hmm. I don't think you're going to get anywhere at all with this one.
Something that I think makes this point...I re-read an old journal today...
My ex actually said this, when I caught him in a lie:
"He said he had no memory of any of this. Then he started yelling at me, saying why do I need all stories to make sense? That he doesn't remember things and shouldn't be held responsible for telling me what's going on."
It actually makes me laugh now, because it's so far off, but it shows what happens in these interactions that we've all had w/ abusers. Sometimes they're better than others at having convincing ways to shift the blame (the above is simply badly done abuse, as it makes no sense!)
