Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
Here is a poem for you.........
When tomorrow starts without us,
And we're not there to see;
The sun will rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for us.
We wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
Remembering how we would lay our heads
In your lap that special way.
We know how much you love us,
As much as we loved you,
And each time that you think of us,
We know you'll miss us too.
But when tomorrow starts without us.
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called our names
And petted us with her hand.
She said our place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that we'd have to leave behind
All those we dearly love.
But, as we turned to look away,
A tear fell from our eyes,
For all our lives we never thought
That we would have to die.
We had so much to live for,
So many happy times to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That we were leaving you.
We thought about our lives together,
We know you must be sad,
We thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
Remember how we'd nudge your hand,
And poke you with our nose?
If we could relive yesterday,
Just even for awhile,
We' would wag our tails and kiss you,
Just so we could see you smile.
and you said you lost your boyfriend too in January, I am really sorry.
This must be a very difficult time for you, grieving over your boyfriend and now your companions.
I know you have suffered such terrible losses and you say that everything that loved you is gone. You do have your grandchildren, I
I am sure that your grandchildren love you and I know the young girl must feel so guilty and terrible about what happened.
I wish I could offer something that could help you to feel better over this.
I know you feel guilty, but I hope you can turn that away and find peace somehow.
Because you have gone through so much this year, do you think some counselling may help you? It may help if you feel everything gets too overwhelming. It's worth considering.
I wish you better days and healing.
if another dog was around it may help the healing process.
I understand if you think it is way too soon to even be thinking of such a thing.
I know some people get one very soon after the loss, some people wait a while, and some never get a pet again.
And I understand a loss is a loss whatever the circumstance, but I still think your case is so very tragic and perhaps is a little different to mine. I knew my Jessy would have to be going soon, there was some kind of preparation going on in my heart. It still didn't make the pain any less when she did finally pass. but knowing that she led a long happy life does bring comfort.
However I have also experienced sudden loss too. it was a long time ago when I was a young girl living at home. We had a puppy only a few months old and i witnessed her getting hit by a car. It was pretty bad.
I hope the pain lessens for you each day.
