Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

My 9-year-old sweet cat, Spirit, passed away unexpectedly on Oct 19 after her annual checkup on the 16th. She was diagnosed with advanced stage kidney disease (early stages last year) and diabetes. Vet recommended putting her down instead of putting her through a lot of treatment.
Spirit was never overweight, and I've been trying to figure out how she could get diabetes. It's so rare in a cat who is not overweight. After much research, I think she had pancreatitis. I blame myself for not knowing this before and possibly saving her life, and it keeps me up at night. I still cry every day because I still miss my shadow so much. I don't know how to move on from this.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...
What a beautiful kitty!
My kitty Sam had diabetes, and high blood pressure, and eventually i had to say goodbye 3 years ago.
i haven't been able to open my heart to another kitty since, even though i know so many need homes....
Please, please don't blame yourself, its not your fault.
i wish i had thee perfect words to comfort you right now....all i can give you is all my empathy.
Your precious Spirit is now watching over you, and i am certain you will see her again one day.
The deep, painful grief eases, and then what remains are your happy moments with her.
My heart goes out to you right now.
gentle hugs
Thanks so much for the hug, Bill.
Loosing our 4 pawed family members is so hard because they give such unconditional love and don't expect anything except food, clean litter box and love.
My sweet Chachi is now 20+ years, I've had her for the last 16 years. I think she has dementia as she howls, she's lost hearing and has fatty liver, shrunk kidney and pees like a race horse! Other than that she's holding her own. Chachi is my 7th kitty.
Grieving is a process that takes time, gentle hugs as you find your way <3 No doubt you gave Spirit everything needed to maintain health, ya just never know what is going on inside and that is No In You Control.
Spirit will always be with you, because of Love, your kitty is in your heart.
God Bless
