Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Having a Really Hard Time Without My Baby Boy

Hi, I lost my sweet Charley boy of 14 yrs. on 2/14/2021 and I'm still having a really hard time. I was coping really well  for a while but since the time change and the holidays I have fell back into grieving his loss again. I think about him day and night and cry most of the time. My husband does not understand. He tells me that I shouldn't cry but that I should be thankful for the time that I had with him,which I am but I just can't seem to get over missing him. I am so lost without him.

hugs my friend. I understand how you feel. I still miss my con artist Artie and Grumpy Granny. They grab a piece of our heart and take it with them. Be gentle with yourself. Cry all you want. We will always miss them. They were our fur babies. Gentle hugs

it is a way we grieve.....I am sorry your going thru this at the holidays....have you considered another pet?

Thank you so much for your support my friend and I am so sorry for the loss of your pets as well. I have considered another pet These short dark Winter days are so depressing since I'm alone all day in the house, xx

My heart goes out to you. Losing a fur baby is one of the worst heartbreaks, in my opinion. I adopted Little Bear (8 yo Maltese) 6 months after losing my baby Lady. I lost Little Bear 2 years ago and still miss him terribly. I'm still not ready for another pup. When you're ready, you might want to consider a rescue who is in need of a loving home.
