The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Can't do it

i can't do it. I can't have kids so he was the closest thing I'll ever have to a child.  I had no idea it would hurt this bad. It would have been his 14th birthday today. Society may say I'm pathetic but I don't care. I would give ANYTHING to have him back.

BCMuttMom, There is a lot of us that love our fur babies as family that do care, as for other people, they probably don't care about people, either, so don't let those people bother you :) I would love to have my fur babies back, too, but sadly this is just one of many BIG hurts in life :( We will always miss them, always love them, and always be happy they were a part of our lives. While the hurt never goes away it does get easier to bear as time goes on but it does take a long time.

I too said goodbye to my heart when my sweet BowWowBoy crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. I share your pain and tears and feel like my heart will never heal. I'm sorry your heart is broken too and am sending you much love and shared tears.

i might have to put my cat to sleep, the day after easter, with today good friday being a total horror.

no kids, or even relatives for me...i have come to the conclusion though that the very same day, very same hour, the worst does happen, i'm zooming to the local pet shelter and get another cat....better than the mental pain i'm already going through....con myself its the same cat and nothing bad happened.

today i already got in touch with the local shelter, with one poor cat there for five years...! So, one cat is saved from a shelter when my poor cat is...gone.
