Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder often characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement, and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement. The primary symptoms of Parkinsons are due to excessive muscle contraction, normally caused by the insufficient formation and action of dopamine, which is produced in the dopaminergic neurons of the...
Besides, why "kill" yourself trying to prove to yourself something that you know is gradually slipping away. Unfortunately.
Regards, Jim
Trust me, I learned my lesson the hard way as usual for me. I wont be doing that again none to soon.
Oh and by the way, you forgot that I also recently had a heart attack to add to that list lol
Your a wise man Jim and thanks for the A## kicking/ words of wisdom.
Vic
Have a good night and a better day tomorrow!
You and yours are in my prayers! Jim
I think we may be screwed ! Hahahaha I guess the good news is that we can blame it all on PD when all else fails.
All kidding aside, I'm blessed to still have more good days than bad. I guess it takes time to figure this PD thing out. Knowing what my limitations are ect. I will not give in, but just re-think the way I do things. Still doing them but just in moderation and a little slower than I used to.
Thank you for the prayers Jim and you and yours are in mine as well.
Vic
Zlata,
You are also correct. My mind doesn't seem to know that I'm 60yrs old, and plays games with me. I seem to have the most energy in the mid to late mornings after my morning dose of meds is at it's peak. Unfortunately it doesn't last long enough for me to do much. Because I sleep like crap at night, I find myself cat napping through out the days. PD and it's meds make me extremely tired but yet I can't get a restful sleep. One thing I haven't lost is my sense of humor. It's what keeps me going ! I have to go for a stress test tomorrow morning, and I told my Dr that I refuse to study for it ! Bahahahaha
Next, I went out to play ball with the dog as she had been waiting patiently in the hallway for hours with her ball in her mouth. She would wag her tail and smile at me everytime I came out of the room as if to say "Now?"
While I was playing with the dog, I noticed some weeds in the flower beds that needed to be pulled. Then I saw something else that needed to be straightened, which led to another thing and another. I finally quit when it was too dark to see.
I had enough "juice" left to take a shower and that was about it. I have a day like that only once or twice a month, so I try to take advantage of it as much as possible, but that is not always the wise thing to do. Like you I paid for it the next day. With your heart history, please be mindful of how you are feeling. Dizziness is a sure sign of a need to stop and sit.
Sixty is not old, but it ain't forty. So take care of yourself and next project, do a little more supervising and let those grandsons do more of the lifting.
Your PD pal,
Madge
Guess you didn't learn from reading my post? lol
As I told Jim, I def learned to limit myself and do things in stages. I had one of those good days you talked about and thought I was super man. Sounds like you did too !
Hope your feeling better now?
I am just fine - after laying around all day doing nothing, it did not take long to recover (a little chocolate helps). Best of all, my "refuge" is now in order and clean right down to the nails in the floor. I have been trying to get that project done for a long time and when I finally had the energy, I just couldn't stop myself.
Sometimes I get so focused on a project there is no way to stop. Was not this way when growing up, only in the last few years. I guess there were so many years I couldn't do these things I might be over-compensating now.
Madge
Anyhow, glad your feeling better !
Vic
You know I have noticed the same thing lately. I get a project stuck in my head and obsess about it until I get the energy to start it and then go off task in a different direction. It takes me hours sometimes to get one job completed because I have done 15 others things at the same time. Some people would call that multitasking - I believe, like you, that it is a loss of concentration. Is it PD or the meds? Might be an interesting topic for group discussion.

Vic
It was probably a mix of age and PD .
If this is something you do not do all the time, even it up and say 70% not fit, and 30% PD
I bet the other furniture removing people also felt it as well,
Chine up oldnslow and soldier on darling
