The facts about soda....

Can soda make a little girls pee pee hurt her and cause it to itch and burn every time she drinks just a tiny cup or two?

Where would I go to find this information?

Can someone help me do some research?

From my expirience, yes. I can't drink soda because it causes me to have very bad burning and pain with urination.

I don't think this is a common reaction, but some people are more sensitive than others. I pretty much drink strictly water because I'm very prone to these kinds of problems.

I don't know if its the soda so much as the fact that not much water is being drank. if the concentration of urine is strong then it will burn, I wonder if soda is a duretic in that it encourages the body to lose water due to the caffeine content. Your daughter should drink more water

it could be the sugar content as well that is causing a condition called candida if not the diet type

Try the flavored water if she won't drink plain water. But it does sound like she needs more water intake to flush her kidneys.

caffiene in soft drinks can irrirate the bladder makig her want to go more often

It could be the soda, or she could have a bladder infection. Push for her to drink a looooot of cranberry juice and NOT hold it if she has to go. Get her to a bathroom as quick as you can. And if it persists then maybe talk to a doctor about it. If it's only soda though, maybe just keep carbonated water or something around to ease the "craving" for carbonation. That's what my parents did with us:)

If it is caffeinated (cola, mountain dew) it is a diuretic and will cause her to pee more often - if the urine is concentrated it may burn. If she has a UTI it would burn no matter what she was drinking. Make sure she's drinking lots of water and call the doc.

that is honestly something i never heard of...i always associated burning, itchinig and frequent urination witha urinary tract infection. i would def increase her water intake and even take her to the dr for a urinalysis.

I'm with everyone else here. Increase her water intake. She could have a UTI, or a kidney infection. Either way lots of water will flush her system. Soda dehydrates ur body. Thats y when ppl drink it to quench there thirst they cant seem to stop. B/c its not working.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
