My son is taught physical violence solves nothing but has a friend who without capitol punishment fights physically with her brother and believes that is how to treat all her friends.

Any Ideas how I can maintain the friendship when her parents are non responsive to the issue.

Maybe..suggest Ur son 2 withdraw 4 a lil' while until this "friend" changes his/her attitude :-? that should send a message*

I think you mean corporal punishment (i.e. spanking) capital punishment means death.

You can talk to your son about setting boundaries. He can say to her that he is not going to accept any physical altercation.

If she does not respect that, then she has to go.

I agree with thriver - explain the boundries once. When she gets physical that ends the fun for the day immediately. Then your son can call her up the next day and explain that the friendship is still on, but he has to leave as soon as she gets violent.

Quick reactions to undersired behavior will have the most impact and she'll get the picture after a ffew times.
