My daughter only has 7 teeth at 19 months old. Is this normal? She didn't cut her first two teeth until she was almost 1. She's showing all signs of teething, for weeks now, but nothing has come through. She's been chewing and sucking on everything it seems for months but I see no signs of any teeth coming through. Just recently, she's pretty much refused to eat anything and she's normally a great eater. I'm associating that teething, I hope. So far, she's been fine sleeping. No middle of the night wake ups like I've heard from others. I'm just afraid all those teeth are going to come all at once and we're in for a rude awaking (no pun intended). Anyone experience this at this age? Mostly, it scares me that she's not eating. Another mom at her daycare just told me last night to try and give her fruit smoothies. That the cold will refresh her gums and that she'll still be getting the nutrition she needs. Any other suggestions as to how to get her to eat a little more? When should I talk to my doctor?

My son is 14 months and only has 4 teeth! He has been having trouble sleeping for the past week and his gums are pretty swollen in several places. He eats fine but doesn't sleep well and gets very congested when he teethes. We have been giving him some yogurt (in a tube) frozen that he seems to enjoy as an afternoon snack.

I think teeth has a wide range of normal. Grace has 8 teeth at almost 15 months. You can put cold fruit in one of those mesh feeder things. Those are good to chew on.

My DD is 3.5 and she didn't get her 1st tooth until after her 1st birthday. She has gradually gotten her teeth and has been fine. The pediatrician didn't seemed concerned - she is just late at getting teeth. She is just getting those back molars and it is one at a time. I have waited to go to the dentist until now - we are going next month. I think all kids are different and unless the doc is concerned, I wouldn't worry about lack of teeth at this age. I agree, some of the soothing foods will help....popsicles, etc. My DD sucks her thumb and twirls her hair, so I think this is what soothes her. I do notice she does not sleep as well when I can see a new one coming....it has been a long slow process.

At 19 months my daughter only had 6 teeth. Now at 21 months she has 11. So yes 5 teeth in 8 weeks. Ask me how fun that's been. :)

At 19 months my daughter had four teeth. At 30 months she just cut her eye teeth. The plus side is they can communicate what hurts more and where as they come in. We are just getting molars now. For her it stretched out...just later in life :)

My son has 12 teeth at 19 months! He got his first tooth at 6 months old.
