First off, regardless of the outcome, there is NOTHING wrong with your son, just something different. And different can be wonderful.
We are Canadian and the process may be different. All they did for my nephew was talk to him, have him draw a picture, get him to play with blocks and talk some more. The conclusion? He has to be tested again before age 5. He is only 4 now.
Don't stress too much, it will rub off on him, and could cause averse reactions. Good luck!
I'm sure I am looking too far into it, I just don't want him to have a "label" put on him, you know? Sometimes it seems hard for people do get past the fact that someone is "this" or "that".
Anyways, this is for him and I think it could benefit him. I may also wait and let him try out public school next year because there will be a lot more resources there.
Again, thank you!
The stress in todays world for children to perform like small adults is insane, and it's pressed into the parents mind for a very long time until you start to feel like there is something wrong with your child for being....well.....a child.
He is a younger kid in the class -summer birthday boy -that probably has the same kind of energy as your child.
It was a very difficult time for me...please know that the services can really help if they are needed but in many cases they are not needed at all.
No one wants boys to be boys anymore...
I think certainly the programs can be helpful for many reasons, but a lot of times schools get frustrated with active young boys.
They are still trying to figure everything out...we have decided to keep our son out of K for another year (he is a summer birthday where he just turned 5) to give him a little bit of time to continue to grow.
Every case is different, but I do so know how hard this was for us to go through...the school did a horrible job of presenting this to us.
