I have always had stomach issues, along with my anxiety/panic disorder. It is all connected!
Acceleration of heart and lung action
Paling or flushing, or alternating between both
Inhibition of stomach and upper-intestinal action to the point where digestion slows down or stops
General effect on the sphincters of the body
Constriction of blood vessels in many parts of the body
Liberation of nutrients (particularly fat and glucose) for muscular action
Dilation of blood vessels for muscles
Inhibition of the lacrimal gland (responsible for tear production) and salivation
Dilation of pupil (mydriasis)
Relaxation of bladder
Inhibition of erection
Auditory exclusion (loss of hearing)
Tunnel vision (loss of peripheral vision)
Acceleration of instantaneous reflexes
Shaking
Definitely re-assuring to know those symptoms are just anxiety for everyone.
There's something that makes me feel like I'm going to lose my mind while my GERD is acting up and it isn't in my mind. Once the acid is minimized I am on cloud 9 all day. It took me months of hell with panic and paranoia to realize that if I can burp enough the anxiety goes away. GERD also makes me sometimes feel like I am having difficulty breathing and sometimes I get really dizzy until the Pepcid kicks in.
Now, on occasion, like tonight (why I'm here), I will get that feeling of panic without the GERD acting up and within minutes I will pass a lot of gas or a bowel movement. Once I pass the gas or pass a bowel movement I feel no more panic.
I pray my posting helps someone because no one in my family understands the irrational fear I have during my episodes. I feel alone and I'm thankful for posts like these. My doctor wouldn't listen to what I know is going on in my body so I don't go to the doctor with these issues anymore.
