A panic attack is a period of intense fear or discomfort, typically with an abrupt onset and usually lasting no more than thirty minutes. Symptoms include trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, sweating, nausea, dizziness, hyperventilation, and sensations of choking or smothering. Panic attacks can be very sudden, appear to be unprovoked, and are often...
When that happens, I usually stop the intense exercising and start walking. Also, it is important (and helpful) to breathe properly when exercising so you can hopefully prevent a panic attack.
I completely understand what you are experiencing, as I too, experience that often. :)
One little feeling could make us go into panic becuase of the way we feel about that feeling. For instance, your heart started racing because you were exercising, however, you saw it as a bad thing, which in turn set your adrenaline in to panic mode. It's so easy for us panic sufferers to do this. HOwever, we need to stop and say "it's okay..this is exercise." Allow it.
I feel a little sweat and it reminds me of anxiety and brings out the panic..which makes it hard for me to breathe and then it goes from there. Just wanted you to know you are not the only one. Take it one step at a time. Good job for going back to the gym.
a sudden burst of exercise can cause a panic attack, you need to warm up slowly with deep breathing, do this warm up and you will be OK, exercise is good for panic attack sufferers
I had to go to the restroom shortly after and started to get lightheaded and clammy and here it all came... I remembered this post and kept saying I am not the only one.... had to come outside.... still having trouble taking a deep breath... I hate that we all have this, but it is comforting to know that I can get throught this with some friends out there who know....
of course I get freaked out when something like this happens.... it is like how would I ever know if something was serious... I have had so much crazy and painful stuff happen, it is all random and I hate it........ so here is trying to do some breathing expercises and get over this bump without a xantax.... I forget how scary this is just for a moment, when you have a streak of mild/good days...
iloverabbits--- makes total sense... is this something that you have used? to help ignore the attacks....
I have to say, it was scary for a min. I was like oh know I feel like I am going to faint, oh I am alone, oh what will I do, what if I cannot catch my breath etc.etc.etc...... in that moment I let my mind take over.... by going outside.... it really helped me, I am so proud of myself for pushing it away.... I have tight chest and trouble taking deep breaths throughout the day off and on.... (I wil be fine for awhile and then it comes in spurts again) so that was pretty much the worse part today.... I am dealing with that crap, but yeah.... I was able to keep the shakes at bay!
