Hey ya'll. My name's Stacey and I have been suffering with acute and chronic pancreatitis all of my life. My cp is slowly getting worse and I'm finding it very difficult to control the breakthrough pain I'm getting despite of the Duragesic patch But anyway, there's something that is hurting me more than the pancreatitis- my sister. She seems to think that my pc isn't as bad as I say it is. Anytime our extended family is together (which is quite often) and someone asks me how I'm doing, she always rolls her eyes and says"she's just fine!" I was at her son's baseball game one day shortly after I started taking the patch. I had it on my arm and she asked me what it was. When I told her, she said" I don't believe it hurts so bad you have to take drugs. Drs give that kind of medicine to people who have cancer and actual stuff wrong with them. What are you, some kind of of druggie?" I couldn't believe she said that! My feelings were so hurt. I emailed her some articles on cp so that she might understand, but she is still giving me a really hard time. I love my sister, but most of all, I absolutely adore her children and I would never do anything to upset them. I don't want to start a fight with her, but I'm the one who's sick-not her- and I'm getting tired of turning the other cheek. What should I do?

Show her these articles on DS, it is not a joke, it is painful and hurts daily, it is not some weak pain that we have it is debilitating and awful. It is terrible, to live with this pain. I am living on oxycontin and dilaudid, those are heavt strong narcotics and the patch is also a strong narcotic, if you are in pain you need pain meds, and not to mention support, seriously show her these articles and exlian to her how you felt heurt by her attitude towards your illness, I would not wish this pain on the most worst person I hated, it is bad!!

That is rather unfortunate. try stabbing her in the abdomen and asking her if that is real pain :-) Just kidding of course. This is one of the most painful diseases out there but I have to admit I have never heard of it and wouldn't know anything about it unless I experienced it. If she cannot come to terms with your pain maybe you can find a healthy way of dealing with her attitude so that you can live easier. Try to let what what she says go by as you have probably explained to her all about the illness and she just doesn't get it. That way if you can forgive her comments or ignore them you can move on and get along with her.

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
