Chronic pancreatitis can present as episodes of acute inflammation in a previously injured pancreas, or as chronic damage with persistent pain or malabsorption. Patients with chronic pancreatitis can present with persistent abdominal pain or steatorrhea, as well as severe nausea. Some patients with chronic pancreatitis often look very sick, while others don't appear to be...
I am new here, CP is chronic pancreatitis, right? I have had for 9 yrs diagnosed.
Sesser how did you finely get your dx ?
there is motilium for bowel movement. I used after AP attack no 3.
to keep things moving. as I had lower abdo pain for aaaaaages after the attack. and my lipase and amylase were high for months.
creon is worth a try if you are still unwell. but not really used unless you are losing weight cos you cant eat such as .. if it were related to
the hereditary disease which is related to CP. once again I cant remember the name
SESSER . have you had your bowel looked at yet?
Ive had my bowel looked at 2x-only for precancer lesions-all else is good.
I went off creon again about 2 wks ago- Im TOTALLY fine. I clearly do not have insufficiency if my bowels are find off freon-which is AWESOME!!! :) Ive been eating whatever as well and doing good with it, even gained 2 lbs!
Also, with regards to gout.. if you add pineapple and papaya to food, do you have to think about these additional enzyme (that is, in addition to creon or other pill enzymes) because what we really want is something else to worry about
and then it was explained how it works. it would be for someone losing weight. ie not eating .pr. not able to eat. so someone with cystic fibrosis . gets pancreas attacks often. they would stop eating for fear of having an attack. failure to thrive. in children. creon is used.
and Creon is then cheaper for those people.
a supplement mentioned to me to take was has turmeric in it for digestive tract. I did try that for awhile as well. ( integrative medicine) my memory fails me yet again.
Thanks... I have been using turmeric/ curcumin also.... I also use it as spice for my low fat chicken breast. You should try that if you haven't already...
So are more people of sane opinion regarding the role of Creon and other enzymes? My gi said it will help me gain weight by better absorption and MAYBE let my pancreas rest a little... whatever that means...
Only thing I am wondering about is can Creon or enzymes are important to let the pancreas rest. I am on low fat diet, never smoked or drank. I am adding pineapple and papaya to my food (per Gardengirl55 instructions, thank you Gardengirl55).
In essence my question is do enzymes have a pancreas protective role too?
