Over The Fence Community Group
A quote from one of our happy Over The Fence members: "Hi JS- Thank you for the welcome message. Do you remember that show Home Improvement and the neighbor Wilson Wilson Jr. who would meet Tim the Tool Man at the fence, but never showed anything but his eyes? He was so funny. This group reminds me of those encounters... you get the wisdom, humor, and support from your DS...
When I was 19, I attended John Robert Powers Modeling School. I became a Run-way/ Dept Store Fashion Model bec I want a glamorous life!
I hated it.. Run-way was rushed, impersonal, and rude store personnel!! Dept Store modeling was: at BEST - tolerable, a LOT of walking; at WORST rude & crowded at peak times & rude customers!

When I was a kid, I grew up on a farm near Punxsutawney, PA (Ground Hog Day).My Dad always had the latest electronic tech stuff. We were the only ones 'out in the Boonies' that had a record player. I LOVED this tune

When we moved to the farm, 6 mos later. That's when we had our cabinet floor model radio like Foxysdad was speakin of. I remember sittin on the floor in front of it. It was still big as me when I was 6. My Dad would come home from the city on his days off. We'd all sit around & listen to Amos N Andy, Bill Stern, mystery Theater, Inner Sanctum, The Shadow Knows, The race-car races, horse races and , of course, my fav - "Fibber Magee & Molly!" Molly would say, Oh No Fibber - Don't you DARE open that closet door !!" Of course there would be the crazy sound effects! How I LOVED that!! I would jump up & down & laugh till I cried. And it would always signal the end of the program coming... Wow - We had SO much FUN with so little then!

My Back in the day memory............ when I was a teenager.. we didn't have internet and cell phones... we lived in a time when our parents didn't have to be worried about us being gone all day. When I was 12, 13..... we used to go outside and play " kick the Can".. and catch lightening bugs for fun......... wow, those days are gone...... kids now spend all of their time on their cell phones with internet, or playing video games........ I wish things were the way they used to be......we didn't know what sex was all about before we were 10 years old.......
We said please and thank you, addressed the neighborhood adults as Mr. and Mrs. we respected their property and did not steal from them. If we were skating on the sidewalks and a pedestrian came by we went out around them and said have a nice day.
We wrote THANK YOU letters on stationary, and read an actual book that we held in our hands and could pass down to our kids, or loan to our friends.
Back in my day, we did not have a need for security guards in the public schools. You waited until marriage to engage in sexual activities, and wearing white on your wedding day meant something.
Gaye reminded me of when I was small and lived on the farm when she said about " kids not knowing about sex until they were 10 yrs old"...In the barn there was the stables in the bottom part of the barn That's where the cows would hang out.. I remember when I was about 8 yrs old this Heifer was humpin a cow. I ran & got my dad bec I thought they were fightin.. My dad grinned & said, "They're not fightin - They are doin the Polka - They's dancin!"
