Ovarian Cancer is very rare, especially in younger women. It is most likely just cysts. If it were cancer you surely would have more symtoms than you have. What is your doctor telling you? I am sure they are planning surgery, if so when? Please keep us posted.

The doctor just wants to do a CT scan and another ultrasound. She isn't planning any surgery yet. She's a gyno, not a cancer specialist. Endometriosis (spelling?) runs in my family, so I'm honestly hoping its that or cysts. If it is cancer, well, I have support from reading all these posts here.

It is a more rare form of cancer esp in younger people. Usually if you are young and get OVC it is genetic. I am 36 and was diagnosed, but for me it is genetic. If it is cancer I would think it would be very early since you have no symptoms. It is most likely something else or cysts. Keep us posted.

I haven't had the CT yet, but the gyno just called back today. She wants blood work done too. That makes me even more worried. There is no genetic history of it in my family, but there is history of Endometriosis. My mother said if left untreated, that can cause cancer.

Waiting while having tests can be very difficult. As others have said, ovarian cancer is very rare. There are several kinds of ovarian cancer. Unless it is genetic, younger woman often have a more treatable form. Genetic forms appear as either breast or ovarian cancer in numerous members of a family. Endometriosis is not an indication of genetic ovarian cancer. It also sounds as though your doctor is doing all the right things. If your tests suggest the possibility of ovarian cancer, then you should be referred to a gynecological oncologist. It's important to write down all the questions you have and it's encouraged to have someone go with you to doctor's appointments to hear what the doctor says. Ask what the blood tests are for - there are many different tests. The one helpful in identifying the possibility of ovarian cancer is called a CA 125 test. I had the CT scan and blood work done today and talked to the doctor. She said the ultrasound definitely showed tumors, but she wanted the blood work to see if they were benign or malignant or what. She said she didn't see it anywhere but on my ovaries, so at least thats a good sign. They can take the ovaries out. She said the blood work was for "tumor markers" they look for. I'm guessing thats the CA test every is talking about.

I'm sure one of the blood tests would be the CA 125. It is a good marker for most women to detect OVCA. Keep us posted.

I haven't gotten any calls or anything from the blood test and CT scan they did, so I have no idea if thats a good sign or a bad sign. Ugh. Waiting is so hard. I have an ultrasound and a "talk" with the gyno next week, so once again...waiting is making me scared. Thank you all so much for the hope and help you've given me. If it is cancer, I'll get through it, and finally get the black hair I've always wanted (mom said I could buy a black wig if I have to do chemo) haha. Doctor gave me some Xanax to help with the anxiety I'm feeling right now, so at least I'm a little calmer and not bursting into tears every hour.

Went in today and got some results. The masses are only on my right ovary. They're very large. My CA score is 153, which is worrying according to the doctor, but she doesn't believe they're cancerous because I haven't had symptoms and they're so large and haven't spread to other organs.

Surgery is the right and proper next step in this for you. It is the only way to get a definitive diagnosis. Hopefully it will be something benign and easy to deal with.. most of these things are.. OC is extremely rare for anyone to have and even rarer than that for younger women... So you have every reason to be optimistic. If, by some small chance, it does turn out to be OC and is contained in one ovary.. then you would have caught it in the very earliest stages, doesn't matter about the size.. with the odds infavour of a cure..

She is wanting to do a full hysterectomy if it is OC. My mother wants me to do the full hysterectomy, but I'm so young, so its a bit worrying having to go through menopause at only 25 and losing out on ever having children. I don't like kids now, but it doesnt mean I won't in the future. I know it is my decision and mine alone, but if it is OC, would ya'll recommend me having it all removed? On the bright side, no more periods! Haha.

Its still the waiting game. The only way to know is after surgery. Untill then try and let it out of your mind a bit and enjoy the Holiday with your family and friends. I know that is easier said then done but truly there is nothing for you to do till surgery day. Keep your faith in your Dr and that she is doing what is best for you. Truly enjoy your time before surgery doing the things you love to do. A few days before make sure you have a good plan for who will be helping you those 1st few weeks after surgery. Mother will be helping me. She makes excellent turkey and dressing for Christmas. Really looking forward to that. I'll try and think about that instead of the surgery. Will update again after the surgery and the results of the biopsy I know they'll do on the mass.
