Ovarian cancer is a malignant ovarian neoplasm (an abnormal growth located on the ovaries). It is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in women and the exact cause is unknown. For those of you who have had ovary removal and/or surgery how long does it take to have bowel movement/pass gas afterward? I was unable to pass gas or have bowel movement after 2 days (of course, I had been on a liquid diet). My bladder/kidney function is perfect and I have no trouble urinating.
In my studies I don't know if this helps but women with endometriosis have a higher CA-125 reading, somehow I think this is now connected to the trial with femera (used for breast cancer) on women with endo it's something perhaps you should look into but I thought this also could be the reason for your elevated reading?
Also, I saw your mother told you if left untreated endo can turn cancerous, yes endo can become cancerous but it is so rare and uncommon, I have only ever met 1 woman on here and heard of 2 women in total with this. The doctors relate it to cancer in alot of ways but no if it is left untreated that does not mean it will turn cancerous. My professor gave mention to it but said it's almost unheard of it's so rare. So please don't be worried of that just now, focus on 1 thing at a time :)
I pray for good results for you, please let me know how you go!
Just remember, ask loads of questions both here and with your doctor! Goodluck :) *hugs*

I was diagnosed Stage IIIC OC in July last year, had my hysterectomy and oophorectomy (they took it all!) and started chemo in early August. Earlier this month I found out that I'm officially in remission, though I still have a couple of more rounds to complete as well as some recommended consolidation rounds (insurance against recurrence).
The only early symptom I had was heavy bleeding that worsened over the course of about six months and then in March I started having abdominal symptoms. If I didn't have the irregular bleeding, the docs wouldn't have found the cancer because they repeatedly dismissed my abdominal symptoms as IBS because of stress.
A lot of others have mentioned the CA 125 not necessarily being indicative of a malignancy and they're correct. There are a bunch of different things that can elevate that, so don't worry yourself sick about it. Especially given your age, even if it cancer, odds are that it's a very treatable type that has like 80% cure rate. And even if you need a hysterectomy, you can find out about freezing some of your eggs, though at this point you may be getting ahead of yourself.
The waiting is killer, I thought I was going to go insane while I waited for the tests to come back and it was probably the hardest moment of my life sitting there with the doc when she told me it was cancer. It's been tough but I've gotten through it so far and I have a horrific phobia of vomiting so it's been fun lol.
Keep us updated and take care of yourself. Guided meditation has kept me insane, especially when I'm anxious and can't sleep through the night. I take so many meds, I don't want to add an antidepressant or antianxiety drug. 8-P
