I had stage 4 ovarian cancer three years ago. I had to have lung surgery, and surgery to remove my uterus, ovaries, and debulking. I did chemo for 8 months and then took a hormone blocker. I had several CT and PET scans that showed no signs of cancer but my C125 number went up so I am back on chemo for six months (two months to go). My numbers were back down after the second treatment! I have a wonderful doctor and a very supportive family. I look at this as a minor setback. My breast cancer was triple negative and I have been cancer free for 6 years from that. The recent genetic testing did show a mutation but the one I had after breast cancer did not but researched has changed. If I knew then I would have had a hysterectomy then and maybe would have avoided ovarian cancer. I have complete faith in my doctor, family, friends and God to get me through this minor setback.

Just over a year ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3 advanced ovarian cancer, that came out of nowhere, as it does! I am 36. I also had surgery which removed everything. Going into it, all I knew is that I had a large tumor, but they didn't know if it was cancer or not. I ended up having pretty much everything taken out (and then some). I have a huge scar running from just under my breastbone to my pelvis. This was followed up by weekly chemo. 3 weeks of just taxol and then week 4 (the week I hated) taxol + carboplatin (sp?). I did this for 7 months. My CA - 125 numbers have been good (around 7 -8) and my latest PET scan was " clean ". I just recently got the results of my BRCA1 and was positive for a deleterious mutation :( I know the chances of having to go through chemo again are really high, but am hoping a get a break from it for a while. I have been off chemo for 6 months now and it has been so nice...

I was diagnosed with stage 3C in 7/02. My tumor was aggressive and I had 6 positive lymph nodes. I had the total hyster plus they took my gall bladder and appendix. I had 6 rounds of carbo and taxol followed by a 2nd look surg and 3 rounds of IP chemo which was not the accepted treatment protocol at that time. I was 54. I remained in remission til 11/08 when my Ca 125 rose to 35 from 16. My CT scan showed a small tumor on a lymph node. I had another surg and 6 rounds of gemzar and carbo as I had a reaction to the taxol. I have been in my 2nd remission since 5/09.
My Ca 125 is around 16-19. I had genetic testing and am not BrCa+

I was dx with Ovarian and uterine Cancer in 2009. The Doctors were unable to stage me however. During the surgery for a hysterectomy and debulking , I went into atrial Fib , an abormal heart rhythm and the surgery had to be aborted. The debulking was not done and only one lymph gland was removed. I had 6 rounds of taxol/carbo and then went to surgery again for debulking. The biopsy after the sugery showed some metastatic ca cells , I then went through 3 more rounds of taxol/carbo, After a few rough patches , my CA 125 has remained around 6. Next July it will be five years since dx and no reocurrences. I feel very Blessed.

I was diagnosed at state 3C in October of 2010. I had debulking surgery and six rounds of intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Since that time I have been in remission, but I still see the doctor and have a pelvic and CA 125 every three months. I feel very fortunate that I had two gyn-oncologists do my surgery. I was also fortunate to be able to have the intaperitoneal chemotherapy.

A couple of months ago I had the genetic testing for the BRCA 1 & 2. Those came back negative for me, and that was a big relief to me since they will not now have to test my daughter for that.

I wish you well as you walk down this road. We all try to help each other and learn from each other about the treatments they're having, side effects, etc. Diane

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February of last year. I had a surgery and didn't need chemo. I was then diagnosed with stomach cancer. again same process. I was born with a hole in my heart and the cancer traveled to the lymph node near my heart. It's caused a lot of problems over the past year but I can luckily say I am in remission with no more health problems. Good luck to all of you

I had stage 3 at the age of 19. My life has changed alot but i have been clear for 8 yrs now. I did chemo for 6 months and then radiation. Havent been for a check up for the last year but Im going next month.

Thank you all for telling your stories. I just had surgery after 3 sessions of chemo. I was diagnosed w/stageIIIc. I have 4 more sessions of chemo to go thru. Doctor was very happy with how the chemo had shrunk my cancer and he was able to remove all the cancer.It's good to hear what others have been thru and what I may have to look forward to.
