Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.
sorry! omg, i thought i proofread that!
anybody can join. we're all trying to lose weight fat or not, many ppl here whom aren't obese maybe just maybe can shed some light and a hand to those having a hard time or frustrated.
GOD some peoples kids
so report them and block.
that'd be a first step in emotional healing.
I was morbidly obese and not just "obese" on the BMI charts and I personally love reading some of these people's advice on here who either aren't but trying to lose a few or that once were. I know when I drop all my weight I'll stay here and help anyone who needs it. weight loss is an emotional process just like anything else... you gotta be ready for it and determined to jump in there and do it and these people are just an extra push :)
I guess I am expected not to talk about the issues surrounding my attempt to lose weight, but expected to share my emotional struggles... but my emotional struggles happen to be about being obese and trying to lose weight... I don't know how to seperate the two issues.
Guess this is not the type of SUPPORT group I was looking for... I will leave the group and never talk about weight loss here again.
For example, I was always a size five, six until I had my son at 24 and struggled ever since. I am 220. I have yo-yoed like everyone else. i will consider myself obese until I get back to where I was at my smallest. My sister has been overweight since childhood. her smallest was a size 14. she is well beyond that now and all she wants is to be back at a size 14 and she would be happy again.
We can all use some encouragement. I don't think anyone is here because they want to stay overweight. We are here for support when it depresses us, want to give up and get advice on what worked for them.
I am 5`4 and am currently at 318. When I started back in May I was at 350. To some here they may think wow I would like to weight just 300 and something. My point is we are on the internet on a public support forum. We are all different. If you dont like a post or agree with it, just ignore it. That is the wonderful thing, we all have the option to just ignore what we dont want to read.
I understand that there is people in this group that want to focus solely on the emotional side and the feelings that go along with obesity and all power to them, but you have to understand that there is the other side of the coin in the sense that there are a great number of us that are trying to lose " a whole other person " weight wise, I don't think any of us should be condemned for that or told to leave the group because of what we're trying to do, and we have to deal with the emotions that go along with that...
Caruth I'm sorry but I'm getting more and more disgusted as I read the comments from you here, I think they're bullyish and starting to make people that need to be here leave the group, ok so your not looking for the same support that a lot of us are, don't click on the threads geared at weight loss, pretty simple really but please don't be telling people they shouldn't be in this group just because they want to lose their weight, Diets and weight management seems to be geared more towards those wanting to lose a small amount of weight, and people that have 100lbs plus to lose need support on a whole other level that they get in this group.. a bit of empathy compassion can go a long way.. I've seen that your a christian woman, God doesn't discriminate he teaches love, respect, compassion, acceptance and empathy and a whole lot more, he wouldn't be telling ppl they don't belong here would he?
