Childhood","Nutrition is a science which studies the relationship between diet and states of health and disease. Between the extremes of optimal health and death from starvation or malnutrition, there is an array of disease states that can be caused or alleviated by changes in diet. This community focuses on nutrition best practices for young children."
I'm going through sucha journey myself right now so I really understand! The book and site helpingme out is www.shrinkyourself.com (the book is called shrink yourself) It is the best book I have EVER read on eating issues. You really strip it away and end up staring at your issues in the face... but also he empowers you with tools to handle those wild emotions in ways other than eating... it is a much bigger journey than simply weightloss or exercise...
I would really encourage you to look into it cos it is changing my life.... you CAN do it!! but you are right just exercising will solve NOTHING. Even thin people can eat poorly and simply run it off but never face the issues behind the emotional eating....
And isn't that what we are all striving to be free of ultimately? Those cravings..the pull ..the cycle of failure and condemnation and starting again and having to justify ourselves? ...
wishing you all the best! Step by step right? The journey of a thousand miles....it's really NOT about the end goal with weight loss but really IS about the journey and going through that transformation as a person. And what I am realizing is it is so much more than nutrition and exercise but about me as a person... about my relationships .. my lost dreams...my passionate nature.. my hunger to do something that really counts in this life...
But when I was trying to stick to a diet, I was great... for a while. Then one day we would go out with friends and I would have something I wasn't supposed to have... then I would quit the diet for good... because I felt like I had failed. It really didn't work out well for me :( So I kind of know how you feel.
When you do find an eating lifestyle that works for you.. remember, you can slip but get right back on the wagon the next day. Try not to feel defeated. And don't deprive yourself of everything you love. Occasional unhealthy things, in moderation, are good to keep in mind so that they don't make the diet a failure when you deprive yourself :)
Don't feel that you've failed and might as well give up if you blow your diet. It's better to plan for a treat (something you crave) once a week than get so hungry and deprived you lose control and eat far more than you planned.
