The narcoleptics in my own family tree have serious memory and communication handicaps, but I feel those problems as more anxiety/PTSD related than narcolepsy related. Proof unavailable, one way or the other. Just a feeling.
It's an absolute booger bear how often symptoms from one condition bleed over into all natural side effects. It can somewhere between difficult and impossible to know where one condition leaves off and another begins.
I was diagnosed in 2002 with Narcolepsy and cataplexy. I have tried numerous types of medication and now realise that Modofinil which I am currently taking causes memory loss. I had taken it for 10 years and was upto 8 x 100mg pills a day at one time. I was then introduced to Wakix which apart from the massive weight gain and hot flushes (nothing like menopause more like sunburn all over) made me feel more like myself than anything and my memory started coming back very odd. Unfortunately I moved back to England (from France) and Wakix is not available in this country so I am back in modofinil...however my tolerance level reduced and am currently on 4x100gm a day at the moment. I am back to forgetting everything short and long term. It's such a pain.
