Advice on eye pain/sinus pressure (MPS)
patticlt
Hi Everyone,
I am new here!
I've had MPS for 16 years but was misdiagnosed for 14 of out of those 16 years. My pain is in my pelvic region, neck, jaw and shoulder, but I have daily referred pain in my eyes and pressure in my sinuses. My pain is primarily located on my right side, except for the pelvic pain.
I take 60mg of Cymbalta, 800 mg of Ibuprofen, and 50 mg of Amitriptyline daily and I take Flexeril as needed. I also see a chiropractor and I've had extensive PT over the years. I also went on hormone replacement (yes, I am over 50 :)) to help with my moods and possibly help with my headaches.
I've been seeing a Neurologist for a year, who has performed several tests on me ( EMG, NCS) to confirm the pain was originating from my muscles. I've tried trigger point injections, botox, injections in my ganglion nerve and acupuncture. None of these helped my pain. I tried Lyrica for two months and it helped my neck and shoulder pain but increased the pain in my eyes. I stopped taking it.
A CT scan on my sinuses and brain and many checks for Glaucoma along with blood work confirmed that the sinus pressure and dull aching eye pain are not caused by allergies, deviated septum or a brain tumor.
I am Very frustrated and depressed. I am tired of burdening my family with complaints. I quit my job of 71/2 years in August, because of my increased eye and neck pain that comes from working on a computer all day and working in a toxic work environment.
Can anyone suggest a pain medication that could help my eye pain too? Does anyone know of a MPS Specialists in NC?
Thanks!!! Patti

I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

Take your hand and rub between the eyebrows, go down the bridge of your nose, and rub at the area between your nose and mouth. Do this several times as needed.
This works for me to release some of the pain since muscular, nerve, bone, and anxiety all react to increased or decreased tension.
Best wishes.
I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia but it effects me mostly in the mornings. I get aches in my legs, tingling in my arms and numbing in my hands and feet but really the MPS is what bothers me the most. The daily eye pain makes it difficult to just function.
I hope the New Year 2016 will bring answers and relief for us all! :)
