Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I did ask my neuro about this. We are at a large academic center and he said none of his MG pts have ever complained about this. I found it odd since it is really obvious to me that I forget even more when my muscles are worse! Again...so glad to know you guys and be able to talk about these things!!!!
Early on I bought a little pill carrier that has three sections in it for my 10am, 2pm and 6pm meds. Every morning I get up and get out my 6am meds in a little pile then fill up my daily pill box. My phone is set to alarm at these times so I am reminded to consult the pill box. What really distresses me is when I go to the pill box and the dose I am there to take is already gone. That can really ruin my day because I will spend hours wondering what happened to those pills. I've been known to search the floor, chairs, car, etc for that "missing" dose. Too bad I don't have a window to peak into my stomach.

I write down everything on a piece of paper for each day. I write as I take the pill because if I write first I can't remember immediately. I have a pill box for predisone and I write it so I am double checking with that system.
Last night I took mestinon at 4:00. I started feeling bad and kept going to my paper and checking because I thought I nver took it. Thank God I write it down or I would have over dosed.
I have a notebook so I can also keep notes of symptoms.
I am happy with my plan.

I think it is just the fact that we have so many to deal with.
But I will have to abmit I can't leave the stove.....gas ....even for a minute because I will start doing annother task and forget I was cooking. I never leave the stove even for a second it I am home alone. If I am cooking and have to run to the bathroom I tell my husband to come watch the stove because I have forgotten it in the past.
So maybe you all are right.
Stress has always effected my mind.....I do think this disease is a constant state of an additional stress.

In addition, I find myself trying to do two things at one. Like trying to put toothpaste on the toothbrush and getting my water at the same time.
I also have trouble getting the right words out of my mouth. This really bugs me and I sound like a "babbling idiot" at times.
