In 10 days school is starting for me again but with MG. I'm a little worried about my medication. On school days I was used to wake up on 7.30 because my school is near but now I wonder if I should wake up on 6 or 7 to give my medication time to work so that I can be ok at 8. What do you think? Also my neuro said that I should take a mestinon every 4 hours from 8pm to 8 am,so 4 mestinons all day. If I wake up on 6pm with the first mestinon I will need  5 or 6 mestinon for a full day so I can go to my lessons. My neuro saw me  3 months ago when I wasn't going to school and the next appointment is on 20th September. Do you think I should change the mestinon programm as I want or I should ask a neuro before school starts? Do you modify your medication when you need it to?

thats what i do. I wake up at around 7am, take my first dose, go back to sleep, wake up at 8am when the mestinon has already kicked in, and get ready for work. You should ask your neuro about changing the dose since 4 pills is the normal dose for a day.

my neuro basically let me adjust my mestiton as needed since i was the only person who would know if i need it. Sometimes i do 4 pills but most days i just do 3. It depends on what my activity for the day is.

When I took mestinon (no longer need it), I took it before my meals -- about 1/2 hour so I could eat better. I also took up to about 8 pills per day somedays as I needed that much to function if I was doing physical things. My neuro gave me a prescription that said take up to 8 pills per day as needed but no more than 2 every 4 hours (mine were 60 mg) and let me decide when I should use them. Getting up a little earlier should give you a chance to do some extra homework ;-)

Not everyone takes the same dose of Mestinon or responds in the same way. For example the statement 4 x a day is the normal dose is not correct. I am currently on 5 x 120 mg. In regards to your schedule, try not to get up too long before you go to school, assuming you have a limited amount of energy and why use up a lot before you even get there? In most cases this drug works after about 30 minutes, for you it may have to be trial and error.
