Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...

I can definitely tell the difference between not getting a good grip and when something is just gone out of my hands before I realize what happened. I am noticing when I have a good amount of medication in me and most of my symptoms seem to be controlled.

When we have to pay attention, i.e. watch as well as feel, then something is wrong and in your case IVIG helps.
Kimberly,
Do these symptoms get better with your treatment or not, since you are just on mestinon according to your profile? That would be interesting, too.
And is there anyone out there who has never had this kind of problem?
Pat
I have an appointment on Tuesday and will ask some questions.

So the question remains, does anyone have MG that does NOT have some associated neuropathy? b.
In the past:
I have dropped or known I was going to drop an item if I did not set it down due to my arms going to give out from a weakness/paralyses involvement from MG, or so I thought. Since I cannot make any claims of dropping anything recently, I guess I will venture to say that the symptoms have improved with my treatment of MG. To say that everyone has some type of neuropathy if they have "generalised" MG(not ocular), would probably not be accurate in my opinion. I'm not sure though... Symptoms of it? Sure...why not?
Look at this involving testing for neuropathy and treatment(look familiar?):

In addition,
Maybe it can be generally associated with other conditions, including MG, like RA has some of the same symptoms as well, and maybe some of us are in early stages of that or ???
Fibromyalgia they talk about dropping things too.

Really, dropping things can be relative to many issues including stress etc etc etc etc:

I am now up to 1 tablet every 3 hours. It works well when my activity level is almost nothing. When I add (what I consider) mild to moderate activity I see my symptoms returning before the 3 hour mark. A lot like running out of gas. Also today I was told I was mumbling on the phone about 45 minutes into my first dose. Though the general fatigue and most of the weakness was better I still had the dropsies and stagger. Probably because I was trying clean and do things around the house.
I have yet to see a day free of symptoms. I wish I had the ability to have a low activity level and perfect the medication dose then add activity slowly but I guess we all know it's not quite that easy. I really don't want to add steroids if I don't have to but I'm not sure how much further my neuro will go on Mestinon alone. I guess only time will tell.
