Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I speculate that it has to do with always needing rest. Like being chronically sleep deprived but it could also be from poor oxygen exchange. There isn't really any rime or reason for when it starts and stops for me.
All I can do is take my time when it happens to make sure I am able to safely complete what I'm doing and then go rest.
I'm hoping that others will add what helps them fight the brain fog. Good luck and hugs!!
"tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual tiredness, fast/irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, easy bleeding/bruising, swelling of the feet or ankles, mental/mood changes, weakness on one side of the body, unusual change in the amount of urine. "
Prednisone seemed to get me mixed up at times.
Good Luck

My brain fog is pronounced, at times--always in the afternoons/evenings. I am most clear mentally in the mornings. I have learned to laugh at my difficulties rather than become frustrated. I know that, given a few hours and my next dose of Mestinon, I will think more clearly.
Sometimes, I put a task aside until the following day because I recognize that I won't be able to complete it until the fog lifts.
I have tied the metal fog to how sleep deprived I am. I am not sure if I would have ANY mental fog if I got as much sleep as my body needs.
I hope just knowing that you are not alone and others are on this journey with you will help.

I guess I've learned to adapt ; we are good at that.
I think it's inherently part of the disease process, and some meds amplify it.
Take Care.
So far if I am at home I try taking a little extra Mestinon and if that does not help I go to bed. .It is much harder if at work. .
I quit work last week I could still do the desk job that I took. Now they are adding lots of physical work and longer hours.I know I can not do that. I am a little down I have worked most of my life so hard to give up.,

I explained to my Dr that I was mentally tired at the end of the day and told him that I thought I should have my Thyroid checked and he said I don't think it's your Thyroid, but checked it anyway, and called and said you have a low Thyroid and prescribed Synthroid. Just one of many times I have told a Dr. what I have before they knew, and that includes MG, which after I told my specialist "I think I have MG", and after testing, they ruled it out! Go figure. Bottom line, I didn't have mental tiredness with MG, but did with a low thyroid, maybe something you should have checked. Good luck
