If you search on
prednisone leg pain
with Google, you will see a lot of folks complaining about it--and some of the suggestions for dealing with it--from drinking lots of water, putting your legs on a pillow, and so on. I would start with my doc.

Have you looked at the possibility of Restless Leg Syndrome?
Mine came on about 6 or 7 months ago and made it very difficult (sometimes impossible) to sleep at night. I had actual pain in my knees (stairs!) during the day as well.
Now that I am being treated for RLS (a half a ropinirole at bedtime) I can fall asleep without them bothering me... I do not have the pain in my knees during the daytime either!
ps. Tapering prednisone made my leg issues worse for the first few days of a step down in the dose!
