About Me

Hi I\'m a 41 year old South African Physiotherapist living in Cape Town. I have suffered from severe generalised MG for the last 10 years. I am on Azathioprine, methotrexate, mestinon and prednisone and am requiring 4 plasma exchanges every 6 -8 weeks to treat my frequent crises. I sleep with a BIPAP ventilator at night and use it sometimes during the day too when I am unwell. I have been on a whole host of different immune suppressants over the years and have contracted and been successfully treated for 2 seperate bouts of tuberculosis as a result of these treatments. I have also suffered many side-effects from all the drugs. I have had to move from inland Johannesburg to Cape Town to be under the care of a MG expert here. There is no other patient at my clinic with as severe disease as myself and so it has been a very lonely and scary journey. I would love to communicate with other sufferers and share experiences.
