Miller, Henry "Curt" PITTSFIELD Henry "Curt" Miller, 60, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital of complications related to Lymphoma and Myasthenia Gravis. Born in the upper east side of Manhattan, he spent his youth in Kew Gardens, Queens. Curt graduated from Pearl River High School in 1970 and in 1993 graduated from Syracuse University with a master of public administration. He began working for the State of New York in the Assembly and worked for the last 12 years as a project manager for the NYS Department of Education. Curt came from several generations of photographers. "Curt saw reality through a camera lens". At age 16, he was an honorable mention to "Sunsprinters", an international Photographic competition. He was past president of the Berkshire Museum Camera Club where he also was published and was a major contributor to the clubs 'Pittsfield Then and Now" project. He was a longtime member of the Schenectady Photographic Society, "Curt was a great guy and a talented, gifted photographer". He won many photographic competitions with both clubs. Curt was a longtime member and a five years past president of the 30,000 member Adirondack Mountain Club. He was an accomplished hiker of the high peaks in the Catskills, ADK and Appalachian Mountain ranges. Curt also loved BMW motorcycles and was a member of the Hoffman Bird Club in the Berkshires. Curt is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Mei Wong; children, John, Clark, Chris and Rachel Miller; grandchildren, Paige, Haley and Tanner. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A prayer and remembrance service will follow. Those who wish may make memorial donations to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc., 355 Lexington Ave., 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.

We want you to know.
Curt was a huge influence - to hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people - on this support group, from around the world.
He encouraged us. He noticed when we needed medical attention.
When he recognized an uncaring medical bureaucracy - he railed against it.
And Curt led by example - showing us: Life is meant to be lived - to the very best of our ability.
Like many of you, my friends here?
I am a better person - for having known Curt Miller.

Having your friendship here - is a gift beyond words.
I'm just like everyone else. Stunned, absolutely stunned.
We all knew - Curt was in a life-and-death battle.
I'm avoiding the words ''sick'' and ''ill'' and ''disease''.
Curt hated those words. He refused to think of himself, or define himself - using those words.
None of us - expected this outcome, because Curt was so tough.
We are just plain stunned.
Curt was among the first - to welcome me to DS.
He was a tough-guy role-model, not mincing words - but also coming from a place of deeply-felt concern.
I will not weep - not for our buddy Curt. He would not want that.
But - I can't help it. As I write? The tears are streaming down my face. Proof - that not all tears are bad.

The name of this site "Daily Strenghth" you take seriously and it is somewhat like a marriage on here. The strong ones at one time hold the others up and vise versa. I am not particularly one or the other, but I am the recipient of MUCH SUPPORT, LOVE AND INFORMATION.
As I learn more and get stronger I hope to be more helpful and PAY FORWARD what has done for me.
I know this is not fair, but I think of you and Bee as the mother and father of our group. I know you don't like that, but I can't help it. You are both so wise. Curt was also wise and surely saved lives and improved others.
Everyone that contributes here is sooo important. We and our life stories are all so different and come together to make a complete whole.

I was so afraid that I would be alone with my grief. I am less numb than last week.
I feel lost, angry, sad and confused.
Curt was always a problem solver.
I was with him daily for 51 days and his 2 sons,John, Chris , 2 friends and I were with him July 17th. He was not alone.
I saw the man that I married and love and I miss him.
Thank you all for being his friend.DS was important to him and I made entries for him when he was unable.
