Music Group Community Group
Wow, I'm so sorry guys! I haven't been active in this group for what seems like years. I just don't get on here like I used to. But, I've decided to get back on here and update a few things. So, I welcome everyone to the music group :)
JourneymanProject1
If you've been following the previous thread that I started you've probably figured out by now that I wish VH1's "My Generation" (the game show, not the series that preceded it) lasted longer than it did. Memories of it are coming back, and I concede at this point I'm trying to find ways to keep myself occupied.
So far I've done song mash-ups based one of the show' speedrounds (there were several during the run and they rotated). For this game, I'm going to use of the show's musically inclined categories....okay, I'm lacking on originality here, but hey.
The category is Gimme Three Steps. I'm going to name three songs by an act, and your job is to name the act. It could be a solo artist or a group. I will try to use the best known song by that act to keep matters fair. Then feel free to post some of your own.
For instance, if the songs I gave you were:
Ballroom Blitz
Fox on the Run
Love Is Like Oxygen
The act I would be looking for is Sweet. I hope that makes sense to everyone.
Now try one on your own. We've got:
Feels Like the First Time
Urgent
Blue Morning, Blue Day

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

Oh let's try this one...
Spin The Black Circle
Last Kiss
Yellow Ledbetter
Some interesting conversations in here, I knew that 21 Guns was Green Day, found it on youtube in 2011 when searching for music, I think I entered Green Day because I was curious about their music.
TES, yours I will have to look up, I dont know, okay I did, I think the answer is Pearl JAM?
If Evenflow or Jeremy had been up there, I would have got it.
my next three
On Top Of The World
Hello There
Takin' Me Back
I didn't want to use Jeremy because it's just too obvious. Spin The Black Circle and their cover of Last Kiss, if I'm not mistaken, were their highest charting songs in the US which is why I went with them.
Yours I had to cheat on and look up too because I wasn't sure... Cheap Trick is it? Only songs of theirs that I know are The Flame and I Want You To Want Me (which is a great song, btw).
Ok, next three:
Push
How Far We've Come
3AM
The Pearl Jam, they certainly were among the early 90's grunge revolution
I had to look up yours though I know of the band, along with Rob Thomas-Matchbox 20?
my next three are
may or may not be obvious.
All the Right Moves {duet}
(I've Had) The Time Of My Life {duet}
Tree - House Of Gold
Well, the only song I know of the three is (I've Had) The Time Of My Life, and I know that was done by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes... so I surmised it was one of the two and then I cheated a bit by looking up their discographies to determine which it was- Jennifer Warnes I assume (I never found anything mentioning Tree - House Of Gold but I found All the Right Moves, so I figured that was enough to call it). Correct?
I'm going to assume so and move on to the next trio of songs:
Don't Do Me Like That
Mary Jane's Last Dance
You Got Lucky
Yours is Tom Petty, the songs are ones I know, the You Got Lucky especially takes me back to early 80's, maybe 83?
next up-
It's All I Can Do
You Might Think
Drive
Now try these three:
The Metro
No More Words
Take My Breath Away
Are you thinking Benjamin Orr as being the natural towhead/blonde?
Drive is among the best of The Cars songs in my opinion. Let The Good Times Roll was my high school class song, another band that was the soundtrack of my high school,-early twenties years.
Yours, without looking it up, I'd say, Berlin, based on that last title, great song, simple yet haunting and hypnotic.
My next three,
Running
Underneath It All
Just A Girl
Technically my last post was Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers...btw, but it's all good.
Ok next trio:
Dress You Up
What It Feels Like For A Girl
Oh, Father
I'm not going to look it up, a guess.
That first song is familiar from Madonna's earlier days
You are right! No Doubt.
next three
Don't Look Back
Peace Of Mind
Can't You Say You Believe In Me
I had no clue what your three were in reference to so I did do a looksee - Boston? That's my assumption based on what I found anyway...
I'm going to assume I'm right and move on to the next threesome:
Call Me
Atomic
Rip Her To Shreds
And Madge! : )
Boston is right on your guess
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
The Rose
Wind Beneath My Wings
Next one...
Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)
Got My Mind Set On You
All Things Must Pass
The first two I knew for sure, the third I was I think so.
Bette the divine Miss M is right
Next is,
Forever Young
Sailing
Young Turks
Yours would be Rod Stewart I believe. Sailing threw me off slightly cause I don't know it and there's a bout a million songs called Forever Young, but surely only one Young Turks, so yep, Rod Stewart.
Next trio... All these songs were hits by this artist, but I intentionally didn't go for what I would've considered obvious hits...:
Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny)
Island Girl
Sacrifice
