Alot is going to depend on first what symptoms you experience during relapses, I continues to work through double vision for 3 months, I just had to get someone to drive me to work, or take a bus. It also will depend on how accomodating your employer will be. You may not have to leave your job. Another consideration is if you wait and go down to part time, as I did, for a few years, then by the time you can no longer work,(if it does happen) your benefits may end up decreased because your salary has decreased. I worked in a deli/bakery, and they made great accomodations for me, but it got to the point that I could not stand long, and as a cake decorator i lost fine motor control, and going back to deli, and the slicers was too dangerous for me, and a liability for the company! Hang on as long as you can!

I am still going to school and working full-time. I'm on a career path into marketing with a medium sized wholesale company. I love what I'm doing now, love working for the company, and plan on being here for a long, long time. Most people at work don't know about my MS. I don't need it getting in the way of promotions or anything.

Hiya, i work in neurological theatres department at a research hospital in the uk as a supervisor. I work part time now as i cant stand long. I am off sick at the moment, but awaiting to go back, hopefully. Take care. Claire

Systems Intergation and Test Engineer: Writing test plans and procedures, troubleshooting problems, giving presentations, etc.

I am an elementary teacher. I have taught 4th grade, second grade and am currently teaching Pre-K...for the last 6 years. I find this level to be high energy but a lot less stressful and not much take home work to do. I think it has helped me to stay very active. I always joke with my neuro when he has me do his hopping etc...tests since I practice this every day at work.

I'm glad you asked this question, ts! I'm always wondering what other MSers who work are doing and how they do it--especially on the days when I don't feel like I can keep doing what I do!
I work in marketing & public/media relations. For the most part I love what I do, but it can be very demanding & stressful at times. My company is very small and all of my bosses & coworkers know about my dx, but they definitely don't understand what I'm going through. I made a lot of mistakes during the 3 months or so surrounding my dx and that was really tough. It's hard enough to get a grip on this myself, let alone educate others AND maintain a sense of professionalism. I just keep telling myself that I'm doing the best I possibly can and I'm going to keep doing that until I can't do it any more!

I am a banker- very high stress. My job is actually processing account and loan corrections and handling grumpy people. I wish I could afford to quit, but know someday I will probably need disability and I don't want to cut back hours or aything that will affect my SSDI pay.

office for my brother-in-law's auto body shop.luckily.only 3 day's,but mostly making 2.here in connecticut they have an oraganization bureau of the disabled & handicaped.i've already been there.they will help you find a job that you are capable of.also it's with employer's who will hire people with disabilities.maybe social services can help you.it's not always so easy as symptom's change.we have to try to adjust the best we can.maybe you can work part time.just a thought.good luck to you.i hope i gave you a little helpful imformation.i have felt the same also.good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I recently had to stop working because of my MS. I applied for SSDI in June. I worked as an assistant manager for Toys R Us for 11 years. I miss it!

I work for the Chicago Public Schools Central Office. I'm very blessed to have a supportive office and I can get to work on public transportation. My insurance has been a blessing too, not to mention summers off.This has really worked out for me this year because I'm on Prednisone treatments right now.

Finishing an art history and french degree this year, work almost full-time as a buyer for an upscale women's clothing store and also write erotic stories. --em

I am a high school teacher. I am also doing an internship (during my prep. period) in special education this fall and winter as a requirement of my Master's Degree. I am worried about how I will be able to manage a full time job plus an internship. But hopefully I can handle it for one semester.

I am a painting contractor. I stopped painting for a few weeks until my spasms subsided, but didn't stop my management duties. I have now gone back to painting, only for 3-4 hours a day though, and I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. And I never get on a ladder more than 4 feet high! Luckily I have a good crew that works for me.
