I opened it for the same reason as Em. I just want to say that I don't find christianity offensive at all, it's just not what I believe. I sometimes wish I had such strong faith in something, it much be very comforting to believe in a loving god. I have just always been much more scientific and analtytical, probably to my own detriment at times. So all you god loving christians...keep on, I respect you. Please respect us heathens too. LOL

Great post! I am a Christian. I am not fanatic (or a holy roller as Mom used to call it) but I do live by the "golden rule" of do unto others as you'd have them do unto you and I do attend church most of the time but I do miss Sunday's here and there. I do try to do nice things for people that I know are sick or in trouble. To me that is what being a Christian is.

Personally, I don't see a problem when someone mentions their religion - whatever it may be or even not be - in a post. And usually I don't take it to heart if I don't agree.

I opened this too, but not out of curiousity, and not because I'm a non-believer. I just figured with such a title it might have something good to say... lol I was raised catholic , and my mother was a totally devote follower of God. The visions I remember was her kneeling with her rosary everynite, and reading her bible off in her room. Sometimes as a child I would get upset because instead of her hearing me, or spendiing time with me she was doing that. She suffered from pretty bad panic attacks , and I eventually found out this was what helped her through it. Once I became a teen I found myself questioning and wondering about my religion. (Yes, the nuns weren't too fond of me!). I never lost faith in God, but felt that my religion was indeed something very private. I would get upset when I'd turn on the TV on sunday morning, flipping through stations to see these evangelists, carrying on, some performing healings. This kinda gave the whole religion thing a cheezy factor for me. Now, I'm saying this from how i felt from a child till now, and how my thoughts progressed over the years.

Now as a 40 yr old woman I feel that I am still a child of God, but not by the product of organized religion. I feel also that the spirituality I embodie has nothing to do with what was shoved down my throat as a child. SO, in that respect, I think it's healthy to believe in anything that helps you wake up and start your day, and puts you to rest at nite. I just think it's something that's individual for everyone. I don't believe there is one true religion. However, I do believe there is one truth faith, and that comes from within your own soul!

Yes I peeped also. You know I find it quit interesting that their are so many conversations or discussions about religion or christianity. I have two brothers who are pastors in churches and I have two grandfathers who were pastors in churches and I was a licenced female evalangist in my 20's.

One of the things that turn so many people against religion (not faith in god or a higher power) is this continual discussion about belief's and attempts to encourage people to what you believe. I believe that Christ died on the cross for us. I believe that there is a life after death. I also believe that God is a kind and lovely God and that he will give us strength to cope with our disease and many other tribulations in our Life.

However, I would like to see us giving help to one another vesus talking about it all the time. I don't believe that when Jesus walked on this earth he had to say, "I am Jesus." People knew it from his works and just by being around him. I don't feel that we have to advertise that we are christians or anything else for that matter, people will know through our love, care, and compassionate for others in the forum. I totally agree Lisa, I am not religious at all, I am a Christ follower. . .that's all. Yes, I go to church, I study the Bible, I pray, I depend on Jesus. . .I don't depend on a Church, or rules. My relationship is with God, not people or a building. Thank you for sharing.

Carol, first of all, I'm not real sure I understand your response. But I do want to say that this thread was not opened as a discussion about religion or God. I was really curious to see how many non-believers would read it even with the WARNING. In other Christian posts, there is always argument or "debate" which is the new word of the month! LOL. The non believers always stating that this is not the place for Christian conversations. . (no offense guys.) I have really enjoyed the responses. No one, from what I see, has been offended by this thread, and I am not screaming my faith to anyone, I am simply conducting a test. . .if you notice, not ONE argument has ocurred. There is humor in this, enjoy it and see it for what it really is. It's nice to learn this side about people. We can ALL get along, whether we agree or not.
