Feisty let me know if this is what you are curious about. When you are given a flu shot they introduce into your system a dead virus of the kind that they expect to see in the up coming year. The idea is that without giving your body a full fledged war attack you are given a few weakling scouts to deal with. Then your body arms its immune system to get ready for the oncoming onslaught. If and when the real army hits your immune system is already to handle it.

My hypothesis is with MS is that you get into the big war the invading army can be wiped out but the good guys don't know when to stop and keep on going attacking the wrong thing, you.

The draw back of the vaccine is if you are exposed to a particularly sensitive flu virus for you that will trigger the exacerbation anyway and if you were lucky enough to never have come in contact with the virus anyway you would be better off. But that is a pretty big gamble.

In my opinion dealing with a smaller war there aren't as many good guys to go beserk after the enemy is destroyed. Can't tell you if there is any truth to that but at least you won't be so sick with the flu when you are dealing with it.

my kids didn't get any shot that were live one's due to my low immune system unless i had somewere they could spend 30 days at so i wouldn't be exposed to the shot also..i got nothing agaist getting kids there childhood shots but i know i didn't want to be exposed to live polio either..

I had a tetanus/pertussis shot and I started having major MS symptoms the next day. It's been about 3 weeks now that I have had increased symptoms. I spoke to my neuro. When I mentioned the vaccine, he said,"AHHH".I got the distinct feeling he had heard this before. He pretty much reassured me that my symptoms were vaccine related. Hope this helps.
