It's been more than 5 years coming, but I finally have my hearing on Monday morning.
I would appreciate any advice. After having a horrible experience with different atty this summer, I'm terrified.

We have talked before on this. Don't try to be the brave solider. Be honest about your struggles! If you are able go into details.

I can understand how nervous you are. When I had my hearing I was a wreck! I actually think this worked in my favor with the judge. I chose not to use an atty so when the judge asked me a question I gave detailed answers and he allowed me plenty of time to talk.

He asked me about my work history, my daily activities, my rx's, drs and I tried to be as accurate as possible. I had taken copies of all my paperwork with me to refer back to but I didn't even have to. The judge had copies already and used his.

Just try to be yourself and let them know how things are for you on your worst day. Don't "doll" up but don't go looking like a bum either.

Good luck and I pray that you finally get through with the process and get the disability that you deserve.

I was just going to say what slynmiss said, just answer as if you were having your worst day. They allowed my husband to come in to the hearing with mine, but I guess that is not usual. The judge did ask him a couple of questions, though I can not remember what they were, but I think that helped. Be Well! And Good Luck!

google disabilitykey for assistance. She has MS, but is a certified specialist i getting people their SSDI. She has higher success rate than attorneys. She describes and gives answers for everything you will be asked at the hearing.

Just be yourself and dont hold anything back. tell them everything you have and are going through and tell them what a normal day for you is like. they will be able to tell if you are laying it on too thick but they are generally nice people. i even cried at my hearing cause i was so upset about losing my job. also bring a lawyer if you can. and make sure you have all of your paperwork with you. good luck!

I'm curious, what's the hearing for? Is this a social security disability hearing of some sort?
