The neurologist I saw in California said he thought my Autistic son was beating me up, and I was just stressed, and believed I was on Crank, even though my son is a sweetheart and always on the honor roll at school, and I can pass a drug test with flying colors. This being after he already admitted the tests he performed came up abnormal.

At one point my neurologist thought my symptoms were due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression. This was even after looking at my MRI which revealed multiple lesions and one "bright active lesion" when viewed with enhancing dye.

I guess PTSD can give you tremors sometimes, and I suppose you can get tight muscles when you're stressed. It doesn't really explain vision disturbances, sensory problems, severe facial pain, etc.

I'm still not diagnosed.

The worst Misdiagnosis I have was that I had optic nuritis, which I do get but this time no one bothered to look into my eye, just started back to back rounds of IV steroids for a month and a half. It was a detached retina. I am blind in that eye now even after surgery.

And that's why they call it "practicing medicine". In their case, practice did not make perfect!

I have been so insulted by neuros that I have lost faith in all of them!! One told me that I was "just depressed" and needed to get up and walk more each day!! Another one told me that my lesions could just be the result of high blood pressure or age!! Now, this is after multiple MRI's where the the radiologist said that my lesions were "highly consistant with MS" and my brain was "abnormal".....duh!!!!

@MSKC: I don't ever recall meeting anyone with a "normal" brain with or without an MRI. LOL

My dr. ordered a LP and my spinal pressure came back high. Even with a MRI showing a brain full of active lesions and nonactive ones as well he told me that high spinal pressure was causing my optic neuritis and that i needed to see an eye dr. for that and lose 10 pounds and all my other symptoms (unilateral numbness and off equilibrium) would just go away!

One night when I was out doing arons, the tips of my fingers went numb, then the numbness moved up my hand, & started into my left arm. Then, I had major shooting nerve pain up that arm into my elbow & then on into my shoulder. So, numbness, tingling, & pain in that hand & arm! And, then it started in other hand, but never moved into my arm!

So, ER doc totally blew me off & then further insulted me by telling me I was just hyperventilating!!! And, he was going to put me on something for my freaking nerves! After he walked out I just riped out the IV & just freaking walked out! Stupid bastard!!! I know when I'm freaking hyperventilaing & when I'm not!!! And, I don't waste my freaking time going to the ER for that!!! How freaking rediculous!!!

It's a tie between the last two neuros #1 The lesions are from smoking only I had'nt smoked in over 10 years and she should of least asked if I smoked. #2 The increase of lesions from 5 to 40 with a dawsons Finger I have concluded that it is from high blood pressure and than again if he had asked what my BP was I could of brought my machine in and he could have seen it was running low for a couple years since last DX by #1 from same office

I changed neuro's not long ago.(trying to get closer to home0the new doc said she was very conservative in MS dx. And I wasn't blind or paralyzed.She did agree that I have TN.She also said, most people have balance problems when they first start to walk. She did prescribe a medicine for my tremors,though she said it probably wouldn't help.At the the end of all this she said I might want to contact the MS Center in Orlando.They have doctors that specialize in MS. I was so upset!!!!!I did however did contact the MS org. in Orlando,and guess who was on the list. Yep,you got it. My original doctor,who I zipped right back too. I don't care if he moves a hundred miles. I'm back in safe arms again.
