i admit to being a little "creative" with people. like if i'm in the store scooter and someone pretends not to see me, i'll bump them then act surprised and say, "oh, i'm sorry!" heehee

i take my moments. people can be so rude. hang in there.

people can be so rude. I teach my kids not to stare & make comments about people's appearance, yet sometimes I wonder if 80% of grown adults were taught the same. I'm doubting it.

This is what I love. Old people walk past me parking in handicap parking and give me the evil eye. Now just to paint a picture I have DV tag I step out wear 4, yes 4 braces. Two for my knees and two for my ankles. Plus a cane to keep me steady for when I get dizzy and dont feel like flopping around like a fish outa water. I get looks from kids and other people two like Im green and screaming I have come to PROBE YOU!!!! I have a temper also but if I lash out I get pain like I just got curbed stomped so its not worth it. Plus the world is full of A$@holes and I dont have the time or ammo to kill them all.

Seven years ago, I was trying to do Christmas shopping. My dear husband would drop me off at the door, I would run in and try to shop. It wouldn't take long before the pain was at a level ten and I would be out the door having bought nothing. It was getting closer and closer (four days before) Christmas and I had nothing for my children (adult children but still). I knew I couldn;t do it. The only store still open was a Walmart. My husband said he would get a wheelchair and we could shop ...trying to make light of the situation. I burst into tears and cried over an hour...hIm holding me and trying to soothe my broken heart.

Since that day, I have never been able to walk any distance. i hated the stares of people older than me. I made a cute sign for the back of my wheelchair that says :It;s MS Girlfriend"....and at the bottom "Enjoying the Ride". I put all kinds of cute boarders on it and a darling picture of a character swinging from a tree branch. Then added colorful ribbons to hang it on the chair.

No more stares but smiles today... ..

Isn't it annoying!!!! Man I was pissed..while I was waiting a man who was in line let me cut him he saw in my face I didn't feel good...he got the talking to me and when I told him what I had he said he was sorry for me n hell pray for me cuz he heard that's a horrible disease n that I was so young..thanks dude at least he spoke to me not staring..my bf gets kinda mad at times at others who stare he plays bodyguard lol it was a rough day but thanks everyone! People are rude! N sometimes I wanna kick peoples ass! But that would just suck up my energy

there are hundreds of thousands of diseases i this world. I could only name a few dozen if I really tried. And then I could only briefly decribe about a dozen of those.
I try to remember that when people stare or make comments. Ignorance is abundant around us. Heck a few years back I would have described ms as a crippling disease that affected your legs and put you in a wheel chair. I never ever even thought of the pain or the other numerous daily gifts that accompany it.
I like the decoration idea. Very good positive reaction. I get more upset by the people that take pity on me than the ignorant ones. Pity is the worst!!!
Family at that is funny. A bit evil but still funny. I have to admit that I once sat in the middle of a K-mart just to see how the people staring at me would react. They turned away. At least they stopped staring. Took forever to get someone to help me back up though. lol

I go thru this ALL the time cuz im so small and young.. I have days when in wheelchair it happenz and also days wen I've used my cane it also happens. I feel like I'm looked at about 90% of the time I'm out n about.

Love the decor idea on the chair...LOL

We must learn to live with the rudeness of the peoples around us as some of them are clueless to the diseases We live with and what We go through on a daily basis. I just say hi .. :) sumtimez that sparks a convo and brings out info in a different way.

sometime if I am riding a motorized chair, I pretend I lost control and give them a little tap with it. Childish I suppose but I get so disgusted with some people

Was walking into a resteraunt and this idiot kept staring at me. I walked up to her poked her in the arm and said they say it is contagious. I just can't stand the stares anymore. I do all my shopping at walmart and use the scooter secretively. Have a friend with me and we go to a walmart out of town so no one i know sees me. Kills me to see an old person or obese person on a scooter They have a natural reason to be in one and here I am young---makes me sad, angry, worthless, cold and etc....

Ha ha!!! Contagious!! What do they say? Omg The look must be priceles!

If its one thing I HATE is people who stare..I mean really I try not to stare when I see a stranger I'd like the same courtesy..I must admit I have a nasty nasty u can say bitch like quality if pissed off so occasionally some random person feels my wrath lol I feel bad for that person..sometimes I can't tell the difference if they looking @me cuz of the cane or cuz I'm a cutie lol aaahhhhh in the end I try to relax cuz there are 80% morons in the world

I love the contagious comment! So funny. I don't like the rude stares either. Such is life. Most days it doesn't bother me. There are so many more imortant things to worry about, but there are days I get bugged.

Creative ways to hit someone with a cane without it looking like it was one on purpose, thank you grandma for these tips:

1. the cane slips, slants right and hits that persons foot...oops
2. I just tried on some lotion and the cane falls right in front of an a hole, omg I AM SO SORRY!!!!
3. I need to walk as fast as possible with my cane for exercise and I didn't see your foot was right there, my bad
4. look at this (look at an object on a shelf), cane falls, hits the person; oh so sorry I just love this item so much, I didn't notice the cane slipped out of my hand.

That is just a few, I have so many more.

Around here, there are so many obese people that use the electric carts (And handicap parking). No one seems to stare, and they are very helpful. In Washington, before graduation, seniors must to a project, and several have done theirs on disabilities, so I think that makes people more aware. People who do stare are insensitive, but curious.

I hardly ever catch a person staring at me when I walk with my cane but who knows.... maybe people do stare. The thing is, I don't notice cuz I really don't care. F_ck people who stare.
