I made the trip to Salt Lake and saw the judge yesterday. My nephew came down from Montana and drove me down on Sunday. It was a long trip but ended up being worth it. The judge told me when it was over that I would be getting my benefits in a month or two. The hearing was more informal that I thought it would be and it was over before I knew it. It was an eight hour drive for a thirty minute hearing but it's OVER!
It is such a relief just knowing that the waiting will be over soon. Not having any income has created a lot of stress for me. Hopefully I will get enough back pay to dig me out of the hole I'm in. Regardless, I will at least have enough coming in each month to have heat and a roof over my head.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

Good to know it went so well, I applied a couple of months ago and haven't heard anything yet. I've called and they said they're working on it. Peace of mind by having an income and health insurance, Priceless. Alma
There is no reason for the system not to approve SSDI for MS patients. It just sucks that the system tries to discourage applicants from continuing the process by initial denials. I guess they think they are keeping the lawyers in business these days with their antics.
I may agree with the point you are trying to get at, I totally disagree that a MS dx should automatically put you on SSDI. I think it should be evaluated on an individual basis. I was dxd 25 years ago and have not even applied yet as I am still working. Two points - 1) It probably has been good for me to work as I would have gone crazy 2) With an automatic approval for an MS dx, then alot of people would give up on working at that point.
For state mind, about 10 years ago I asked my dr if I would probably qualify for SSDI and she said I could have qualifiedd several years before that.
I went through the apply, deny, reapply and then finally get approved routine. I would not have wanted to go on SSDI when first diagnosed. I am glad I continued to work. Now days I go half crazy from feeling useless.
