In the meantime take extra care & dont put yourself in dangerous positions as you don't know when you are going to fall. Also try to get a personal alarm to be safe for yourself. Take care of your safety.
Hope you will be seeing your neuro soon. Please take care of yourself, and I'm glad you did not hurt yourself too bad.
Gentle hugs, Linda
*I know...I 've been there.

I'd suggest getting one of those screens that people buy to place around the stove so as to prevent a child, older person, or a person with MS or a similar problem protection from the stove itself as a barrier sort of thing.
Please take all precautions you think of as you don't want to fall on a hot stove!
Where would you get one?
I am thinking it may be a very good idea. Sad to say, but, like you say, may be the thing I need!
I am trying to get set up with a new neuro, but, I am waiting on the old one to send the med. files, and history. So, it may be a few days before I can even make the appt...but, I do know that as soon as I do, the "falls" will be a top subject to discuss!
Thank you all, for your concerns! I appreciate them!
I just responded to your email about the personal alarm system, so check your email. As I stated in my earlier post, I, too, tend to fall.I remember falling in "slow motion" as well. It was weird. One time I fell backward out of the shower. This was another "slow motion" fall, but it happened in a manner I could not prevent it. Thank goodness for shower curtains! I got all tangled up in the shower curtain and it would not let me fall, so I sort of "rooollllled" backward out of the shower. I have fallen out of chairs (now that takes TALENT), tripped over air, and have fallen from a standing position by just turning. I used to take all of these in stride until I discovered that the many falls over the years had taken a toll on my knees. I have a torn meniscus and it is very painful. Since I just started taking Copaxone again with Acthar Gel, I will wait until this settles down and then have the arthroscopy done. At least it was an arthroscopy a few months ago....since then my knee has worsened. So be careful. Hold onto rails and use your cane. Another tip that may help is one I implemented years ago. All of my furniture is against the wall to make more floor space. I do not have a cocktail table or end tables... or anything that will obstruct my wide walking area. I have those small portable tray tables that I can easily put up if I need to have table area in the living room. Once I am done, I close it back up. Further, if you use area rugs, get rid of them. Especially if on wall to wall carpet. I have laminate flooring on my main floor and bedroom. If I need to use area rugs I handle them using a two-fold method.I use those sticky rug placement things that go under the rug, and just because I know myself I TAPE THE RUG DOWN WITH CLEAR TAPE on all sides. The only reason I have the area rugs is to cover wires that cross the floor and to wipe my feet as I come into my home. I am such a stickler for germs, I actually spray the bottom of my shoes with Lysol spray when I enter my home. No, I am not of the Howard Hughs mind-set, but it keeps my floors cleaner and for the areas where I have wall to wall carpeting, I protect those areas from the grim that stick to the bottom of shoes. Never mind the germs....Oh, I spray the rugs with Lysol spray as well. I got that tip from a carpet cleaner. Good luck to you. r/Alita
